Samper is already 20, and will be 21 soon. He has already played well for the 1st team, for me it's past the time for him to be playing against much better opposition.

Puyol was 21 when he left 3rd division .let's not focus on age
Samper last year showed he is clearly needing development . he showed being good with 1st team in a very small sample size man and the 1st coach team hasn't been convinced that much even in pre-season
Adelante and Liga are very competitive and they aren't a place to just focus on developing players as it will be tough to get results while doing that (and it has been proven for coaches that if you don't stay in segunda ,no matter how your witk with the prospect the coach will get fired)

He is in a place where he can work on his clear weakness and built confidence and leadership .if he works hard on fixing those he will get his chance whether directly on 1st team or in finding a loan that would fit him like Alen

Puyol was 21 in 1999, 16 years ago. Times have changed. He also played better than gumbau in pre-season, after doing so last season for the b team. Like Halilovic, he should had been loaned, since Enrique decided to not count on him.

I am not trying to compare Samper situation with Gumbau ,again I don't rate the later that much
And again ,it was way easier to find good team for Alen than Samper .he is the one who has rare talents that teams in dear need for and would take the whole package for it .Samper is a guy who is supposed to outsmart opponents and he didn't do that in Segunda against more developed players, there was very good chance he was gonna spent most of time on bench if he was loaned even in smaller Liga team

Just watched his whole sub appearance tonight and he was far from shit.

If anything it was a good 15 mins from him without being spectacular but he was not terrible in the slightest.

Agree. His positional awareness was (once again) rather mediocre, though. He tends to get caught up in the action and leave gaps behind him. Basically, the same problem that Song had as a DM for Barcelona.

Of course there is a risk of Samper warming the bench for any Liga team. However, I think he'd do very good in a mainly possession-based team (Rayo, maybe even Celta) alongside an experienced midfielder.

None approached the club to get him ,and both probably won't have starter either .we can keep saying we should loan player X to team A,b,c etc but the simple fact that clubs asks for our player and we simply choose the best out of them .if a club not interested to enquire about our player then most probably he won't play too much if we offered him to those clubs

They might have inquired if we didn't say he wasn't going anywhere like munir and sandro. I know you think that since you don't rate him that high that other teams weren't interested but reliable journalists like Oriol Domenech and Miguel Rico informed that Lopetegui wanted him on loan in May. Malaga was another team that was said to have shown interest and there probably would have been more that we dont know about.

I am not denying there was clubs interested ,there are always clubs interested but are they the best for him?
Sevilla for example made an offer but they wanted him to be a cheap option for the end of the bench like they did with D.Suarez & Deulofeu and we said no
Was any of those clubs were gonna give him the playing time he needed? would any invest enough in his development? or they just want a cheap player for the rotation?

Its possible , but beyond clubs of that stature there was supposed to be teams from the eredivisie etc. I was responding as to whether Rayo would want him ,I think they would. They basically take anyone on loan and no one goes there and doesnt get playing time. Diego Llorente is starting games there without being anything to write home about. If hes still around next summer it would be a good place to start . Worked out well for Saul.

Useless performance against a parked bus, not much to draw from his minutes apart from the burning question that continues of how on earth he is in the 1st team squad

Was not useless at all he came on and played reasonsbly well.

Kept ball well, showed for ball and got up and down park.

Had Samper came on and given that exact same performance people would be happy.

We're going to get the chance to see Gumbau and probably Munir in midfield until Sergi or Iniesta come back. I think they will be fine against the likes of Eibar, first round of Copa and the next Bate game. These two are Lucho guys, unlike other possibilities for midfield like Adriano or others from Barca B. No way Masch, Busquets and Rak can cover the midfield for all of two games a week.

I don't think Lucho will play Neymar in midfield, even though he is the best available.
