Gerardo "Tata" Martino

It is presumptuous and callous assumptions like "He'll probably leave" and "he cant motivate the players" that is fueling and spreading doubts among cules , fans and onlookers alike . Then the media and especially and ashamedly those in barcelona have initiated an ongoing campaing sowing seeds of doubt in Martino's ability to manage the team. When you engage in that sort of character and ability assasination on such an extreme, consistent and unfair level, this is what the result is. Rumors start circulating and of course it spreads doubt, unnecessary distraction and further destabilizes the club.
What fuels the rumors are performances like the ones against valladolid, sociedad or Valencia. And tata's been hinting he is not happy to have to deal with the catalan press. Being a Barça coach has always been tough. Even before we could discuss things in the Internet.

Tough for Tata. I'd like to see a little more stability, but I have a very strong feeling we are going German next year.

Ter Stegen
Hummels
AND Klopp!

That is true to a certain extent, but notwithstanding his admission of error in the Sociedad game, does that mean we should use his mistake as an occassion to overlook the players lethargic attitude or perhaps ignore other underlying issues inherent within the squad, that has been apparant since last season and has yet to be dealt with.? I honestly and humbly feel that even though Tata has in fact made some errors along the way, he is being judged unfairly and harshly by cules and the catalan media who are set on villifying him and nailing him to the cross. We've become such a 'perfect' club that if there are any slips, the club goes into crisis mode and we immeditaly start to think about possible replacements thus making the situation worse than it appears to be. We've become so slaved to the glory years, we can't even see that the current squad needs 'enhancing'. We started the season fairly well and finished the year as winter champions. As soon as we experienced a few difficulties we immediately begin looking for a new coach and so on. How can there be any stability if we can't give the manager a chance. ?

Rumour or not, Tata does not give me the impression of someone who intends to continue here...The pressure is unreal at the club and while I think it's better for him to leave anyway (Barcelona ended up being too big a job for him), I think the board (i.e. Rosell) deserves a good deal of blame for re-enabling the circus atmosphere around the club that Laporta successfully minimized...The coach used to feel protected and was insulated from the onslaught of controversy we've enjoyed this season...It's no slight on Martino because there are few coaches who could've/would've weathered a media pressure cooker he's had to so far

Of course, I continue to think the job was too big for Tata and while he ticked a lot of the boxes you'd want in a coach, he's failed to even give the team an identity his or Tiki Taka...Even before Tito's illness, I failed to see his longterm viability either but I do think going with a blaugrana coach would be smart, i.e. De Boer...Anyone's who's played for this club would appreciate how unacceptable the team has looked much of the season

I don't think the job is too big for him, he has done really well so far and it could still get much better. We have had our ups and downs but our peak performance has been excellent and I feel confident we can beat any team. We are only 4 points behind Real with an excellent chance to take it down to 1 on Sunday. Nobody would dare say the Real job is too big for Ancelotti yet he has done a similar job in a much better situation.

He has been at the club for about 9 months or so and I don't think it is fair to judge him in such a short space of time especially as he has not been given the opportunity to fix the obvious problems such as the defence. I would prefer he stays on and is given funds to sign the players we need and then see how he does. And to be honest I would be very confident in his ability as a manager to win titles now and in the future. The political situation at the club has not been ideal either and I feel that it would be hard to do much better considering all he has had to put up with this season.

Well, the fans know the team need reinforcements for a long time. This is an old problem.

And I think most here recognize Tata is doing a good job in some aspects. Specially regarding Alexis and Pedro.

But losing 9 points in 2 months, in a 100 point league, is just not acceptable. The inconsistency the team is showing is down to wrong tactics, imo.

Fucking ironic that the pathetic catalan press has campaigned against Tata since the start of the season to get rid of him now succed, the same pathetic press that made fun of Real Madrid for changing trainer ever other season, well guess what, FC Barcelona has transformed into the same trainer whoring club that Real was, thanks to the catalan shit press.

Talk about overreacting. Pep left on a sabbatical, Tito left because he had cancer & Tata is still here last time I checked. But please, keep on ranting.

Bottom line: Tata does not strike as a manager capable of building something. He's here by a stroke of misfortune that was Tito's illness and even looks as if he's clutching to live another day. Just look at him at the sideline.

He'd be better off coaching a club without football identity such as Barca because he is a decent coach. Barca is a special case though and needs a man who knows the club and has a vision. Not merely fighting for his own life and looking short-term.
