Gerardo "Tata" Martino

Just look at him at the sideline.

I don't see anything wrong with what he does on the sideline... Also I can't really see how you can tell if a manager has a long-term plan when he didn't have the opportunity to make new signings and he's done everything else, he's tried out different tactics, he's gotten improvements from many of our players, he's changed our team up, I'm not sure how he is "fighting for his life" (?) and looking only towards the short term...

He looks nervous all the time. Not the best mood to transmit on your team, no?

Among all those young and successful managers out there many of whom were former Barca players (Valverde, De Boer, Blanc, Lucho or Pizzi even) you see Tata as a man with vision to rebuild this team?

Seems like a completely subjective assesment... Even if he is, the players don't seem to be too impacted by it.

Tata has gotten positive results in every big game this season, has gotten Alexis, Pedro, Cesc, Valdes, Pique (others have improved too, but not to such levels) performing at levels either unheralded or not seen for a long time, he's tightened up our defense very well, he's helped Neymar have a great first season (even if he has been meh this calendar year), he's made sure we're still in contention for every trophy we were in (and already won one), and he has yet to make his personal impact on the team in terms of transfers. I think that there is hardly anything more anyone could have done in their first season and I certainly disagree with the elitist "former Barca players for managers" approach. What our club needs right now (IMO of course) is stability, a constant in a whirlwind of change, with Xavi and Alves fading out of the starting XI, with Puyol and Valdes leaving, with the whole deal with Rosell resigning, I think the last thing we need to add in a new manager on top of that.

Agree with everything you wrote. I would add Bartra to that list too.

Did he even given the chance to rebuild?

I mean he has done fantastic job I doubt even Pep can do give the circumstances:

>Xavi in decline, Puyol is out
>Iniesta and Busquet not been exactly the same (Iniesta had few good games recently only)
>Messi's injuries
>no enforcement in the defense
>Neymar signing drama
>Our President resigned

Now, given all the above and you still think he hasn't done a good job?

Also adding to that, I love Tata's new approach with direct pass forward not backward and a bit long balls. We were screaming last season to change or rather tweak our approach which opponents got used to it by now. Tata gave us that new option although I think he needs to bring few faster players that better suit our new tiki-TATA style. Passing the ball backwards, is something we have to change because it produces less goals and allows the opponents more breathing space and time to regroup.

The man once said he doesn't think barca's playing stile is beautiful. This is enough of a reason for him to go (IMO). And first he said he won't change anything but bring back the pressing.

Next time he tries direct stile and fail (because he doesn't know better) in an important game, the moods here will change again. We beat Man city, etc.. with our style, not his.

IMO if he leave now will be for the best, because sooner or later he'll turn this team into an EPL boring stile one.

Don't beat me too hard for my opinion please.

Since when 54% possession and counterattacks is "our style", our style is pressing, <70% possession and tiki-taka and I see more counterattacking football since Tata has arrived and I am very happy about that. Hope he will continue, it's just his first season after all.

So ...counterattacking is not our stile ? And we always had possession over 70% ?

Ok , may be the MC game isnt the best example, but what did we saw the last game? I saw PEP's Barca.

If we play like this its all good, but i dont think his ego will let him just copy what pep have done before him, which is normal.

Well yeah, counterattacking never was our style until Tata arrived and we won possesion in 317 matches in a row (of course not always over 70%) and it was against Rayo when we lost possession and we won 4-0 with entertaining counterattacking football.

And despite all that he is the same person who said that the players don't need to be motivated and who coached the team from being first at +6 points distance of RM at -4pts of them(even when I write this I can't believe that we are going to lose this league because we weren't capable of beating Valencia at home).
But you are right, based on what he showed until now he should finish his contract with us. Though listening him in press-conferences I'm not sure that he wants to do that.

Just explain this: why are Alves and others doing these high crosses to players with a height around 1.68? And what about these pointless long high passes from the back up to messi? He cant win a duel against a centre back at 1.95. Why the lack of pressure and Motivation?
