Wijnaldum wants to stay at Liverpool. Klopp also wants him to stay. [sky]

Wow.... could this mean Thiago for us?

If true, it probably means no Thiago for Liverpool, and that's it.

Who knows what to us. But, we can't have old Pjanic next to De Jong. We need an energetic md there

True. Thiago is not going to fix this team. Pjanic-Thiago-DeJong sounds good, but it would suck vs Bayern and modern teams.

Thiago, De Jong and Pjanic midfield lacks work rate, speed and intensity. In today's game you need two high work rate midfielders if you are playing three in midfield. Something like Thiago, De Jong and Gini would work.

Then you can add Puig to that. His workrate is high.

I don't know what you mean by work rate.

Looking at some stats from this year's CL. Kilometers per 90 min:

7.6 - Messi
8.6 - Mbappe
9.0 - Suarez
9.3 - Cristiano

10.0 - Neymar
10.2 - Gnabry
10.3 - Lewandowski
10.3 - Griezmann

10.9 - Busquets
11.0 - Vidal
11.1 - Thiago
11.3 - Frenkie
11.3 - Wijnaldum
11.7 - Muller
12.1 - Pjanic

I would like to see a b2b midfielder at Barca. Too often in our purist 433 set up we don't have a proper b2b player who can cover ground up and down the pitch.

Again the kilometres itself don't tell much. Any footballer can jog 12 kilometres in 90minutes. It's about the intensity they do it. Like Muller 11.7km is not comparable to Busis 10.9km walk. It doesn't look big difference but it was done with way faster speed and higher intensity.

Yeah well compare position to position.
Our hardest working attacker Griezmann is hailed for for his hard work, but in reality the distance he covers is actually the standard of an attacker at Bayern.
Same with Vidal who's supposed to be a box-box warrior. He runs less than playmaker Thiago lol.

Says plenty about how we have played this year.

"Done faster and with higher intensity"  , think for a moment how one can have a "better" intensity but the same distance covered? Did he sprint and then just stood static? Or what happened? Busquets covers his distance, you think he doesn't because he's slow, he doesn't win duels, etc, but that's not related to work-rate. When Busquets was running those extra 0.8km it was very noticeable.

How useful is it to have Rakitic run around the pitch for ninety minutes? He is "running" all the time. I mean, jogging. Muller sprints/tackles/fights/looks for open space for the ball. Busi and Rakitic speed is a joke. Everything they do is too slow and low intensity compared to other top players. It might be "fast" for them or their condition but they are slow as ****.

If someone sprints 12km it's way more useful than someone jogging for 12 km. Aimless running for kilometres is worthless.

That's Busi and Rakitic. They are jogging around. Their intensity/speed was/is too slow for modern football.

I could run around football pitch 90minutes and run 12km. Would it be useful? No, because I do it too slow. Everyone would run past me or I would be too slow to react, meaning I am just jogging everywhere.

Busi and Rakitic for you.
