In the Ghana game instead of heading to the corner flag he did a wild cross to no one and sparked another ghana attack so its no surprise he repeated similar stupidity today. And from someone who played in Germany and Italy :facepalm:

I know Portugal is crap but a lot of you are seriously underestimating them way too much. They match up really well against Ghana and they will have Pepe back. He should add a lot of defensive stability. Plus Ghana defense is piss poor compared to USA's. I could see the Portugal vs Ghana game ending in a draw unless Portugal decides that it wants to screw over USA.

USA vs Germany is a horrible matchup for USA. Germany is the type of team that does really well against parked buses. I could easily see Germany winning by 3 goals or more.


Also, when one team performs well against some good team, a lot of you in this forum jump on that team like the second coming of Christ. An interesting statistic to keep in mind: Germany have won only one 2nd round match in the group stage out of the last 8 world cups I think.

Anyway I cant see Germany and the US killing themselves in the midday heat. Tough luck Portugal and Ghana (unfortunately in Ghana's case)

Germany already have a bad reputation for fixing draws due to '82. Don't think they'll risk another one here. A 2-3 goal defeat of the USA is not out of the question, which means Portugal need to get a 2 goal win. Definitely doable.

Yes, because I totally said that in my post....


Ghana is a good team but I was having a good chuckle that a lot of members in the chat think Ghana will annihilate Portugal.

They won't annihilate portugal, but they can beat them.

I would laugh if USA beat Germany and Argentina have to face Germany in the quarters again.

Varela is a really clutch scorer for Portugal. He scored the last minute winner vs Denmark that kept Portugal alive (co-incidentally after a first game loss to Germany) in Euro 2012, that was followed by a brilliant win over the Netherlands to qualify. Can they pull it off again, too many parallels.
