(one of)...but he really was a wizard, I loved watching this man, his through balls and vision in general was just sensational. He had all the talent to be considered a great IMO, didn't make a big enough name for himself for reasons I am unware of (RMs policies maybe/mood swings according to beast)

He was incredibly inconsistent. Could have 1 sublime game and 9 average/horrible

By that yard stick, Cristian Brocchi is one of the best DM's of all time. Which he isn't.

Sadly youtube is not available to me, or I would re-post Guti's best bits - giving the finger to Alcorcon fans during everyones favourite Real Madrid match, and driving through Istanbul drunk before starting the shitest fight of all time.

Guti has got to be the most metrosexual dude I've ever seen on TV. Dude probably has a closet full of colognes and a closet full of accessories (sunglasses, belts, etc).

Brocchi can only dream of cleaning Guti boots , unlike Brocchi Guti did contribute effectively to the 3 CL ... this is a player who played over 400 games for Real , 3 CL titles and 5 liga
Although he was still very young in the first CL he did play few games but he was pivotal in the 2 other CL ..

No one said he was a sane character ... he wasn't he was a complete genius with all the shit that comes along with it ..plus that middle finger is awesome..

Guti (ex-Real Madrid): "I stick to my opinion that Messi is better than Cristiano Ronaldo. And Iniesta is also close." [cadena cope]

Definitely one of the most entertaining and clever playmakers to watch. I caught the end of his Madrid career, and always looked forward to seeing him on the pitch.

One of my favorites:

Watching some of his assists on YouTube again, he had some trademark techniques he did as well as anyone on the planet. All the great playmakers can pick out throughballs, but Guti, more than the rest, found them at the incredibly acute angles, often cutting back at severe angles across his body and direction; very creative and deceptive. He was also a master of outside of the boot passes. Third, his weight on short acute angle passes in the box was excellent. Thiago has a touch of Guti in his passing style; it's one of the things that makes Thiago exciting. Busquests also likes acute angle passes, but of course he plays further back.
