We also had the luck on our side

I must say that I find it mighty impressive how our attack converted against Bayern and Real. We got a goal for nearly every shot on target, while the adversaries were missing left and right. Once we get them in they crumble, but will all opponents miss like that? And if not, how will we respond?
The losses he had with Bayern were far and between but when they happened they were unexpected and spectacular with 4 or more conceded goals. Similar to the loss against Osasuna. The adversaries had hellov a day, everything worked for them, while Bayern efforts were frustrated and goal chances were wasted.
So every now and then, one can expect a 1-4, 2-5 loss against the likes of Osasuna or Rayo Valecano, when the least expected but on the other hand, the opponents have something in their game, maybe luck combined with the highest resolve to achieve a good result, that's difficult, if not impossible that very match day, to overcome.

He just loves his job. While Koeman was more often on the golf course than in training, Flick goes alone watching Barca Atletic after the training session in the rain.

Yeah, Hansie is likeable. Not a shred of arrogance but firm and consequent in what he wants.

When FC Barcelona signed him up, I was in awe but knew right off that it would be a massive move.

Love it. Great encouragement for B team players to see the coach consistently show up to watch when he can.

Now to be fair to Koeman, I do recall he went to see the B quite a bit too. Atleast until everything went sour. Not a dig, but more than Xavi for sure.

Not quite. Madrid had 3-4 chances apart from the offsides. Vini in the first half, and 2 for Mbappe. Barca had about the same, even if you exclude the goals. Yamal 1 vs 1 in the first half, Lewa missing by far the biggest chance of the match with his shot off the post, and another big chance soon after.

It's not a being more clinical situation. It's also creating more dangerous situations. Converting them is nice, but if you don't create volumes, you can't score 8 goals in 4 days. There were also clear chances missed.

If we were really clinical, we would've scored 6 vs Madrid. The missed chances were all very clear.

Yeah, it's always a great motivation for the boys knowing the first team coach is watching you play. Flick appreciates La-Masia as it should be by any coach. Sure, I didn't mean to say Koeman was never in the mini estadi/Johan Cruyff Arena, just that it was no secret in Barcelona that he was spending more time with golf than teaching football.

Missed chances are part of the equation. They are merely a scrap material of otherwise an excellent performance without which, the win could have not come at all.

Had there been another type of a striker, without Lewa's superior skill of positioning, and vision, the chances you saw he converted as well as missed, could have been ONLY one, two or even none.

As far as the offsides by Real side, I would not dismiss them as a moot talking point.
They, by large amount, might as well be counted as chances, as they were miniscule. Another day, another time, Mbappe or whoever else's timing is better, they might as well become goals.

It's funny cause Xavi complained about the Masia players not knowing positional play and questioning La Masia.
Flick comes and drills some concepts and a simpler way of playing, and we are flying.....so far.
Club has really been stuck in a rut with the same old Barca DNA stuff. This is a breath of fresh air.

Yeah it is a fine line (no pun intended).

Well, at some point the two philosophies will have to merge. I remember everyone was screaming for more control in first half vs Madrid. And we got that with FDJ being brought in. There will be times when you want to control games instead of doing boxing matches, trading blows with the other team. Because not every day you'll finish most of your chances or the opponent misses theirs.

I do not like this man. I don't like him at all. Yesterday I was looking forward to watching two of the most attacking teams in the EPL go at it but Arsenal and Liverpool bored me literally to sleep.

The lack of pressing, the lack of flair, the lack of intensity to win the ball back, but most of all the lack of risk taking. Everything was safety first. The mentality of let's not lose, rather than let's win.

This man Flick is very dangerous. He is making all the other football in Europe boring to watch. Arrest Don Hansi !

We started well; Flick is doing everything very well, and you can see a solid style of play, with every player seeming to improve under his guidance. It’s all very promising.
But you don’t win anything in October.
We’ll see where we are by the end of February, if we reach peak form... that’s when it really matters to bring home trophies.

They better learn not to touch any new Barca DNA shit coaches ever again, there is purely no need for that. In their minds if it worked once with Pep it should work with pretty much any other "like" coach but it clearly didn't and frankly it may not work ever again.

Welcome to effective, modern football, Barcelona, FINALLY !

I'd say peak form has been already reached. Smashing both Bayern and Real can be toppled only by smashing City and Liverpool I guess. From here on I would expect an evolution, considering that we have starters returning. A refinement of the style, with different elements being implemented.
But more importantly we'll have to see how we can sustain this form and how Flick deals with drops in form, as that will also probably happen at some point.
