But isn’t utmost alertness required a given for top athletes at top level?
Yea, so? How is theory helpful if it's not applied in reality?

So is crossing on green light as a pedestrian and you still look left and right before you do it in case some dumb driver runs a red light.

Not piling on him, but I hope he has a plan B or some sort of adjustment.

Also, in every game without Lamine in the league, he's lost points. We shat on EV for being reliant on Messi but even EV managed to win points without Messi

It isn't Lamine missing, it is missing a second proper winger.

It kills the entire system we have. No outlets for midfield for quick plays > doesn't force opponents to react enough > opponents in a position to play their pace tather than rush things > our press is less effective > our defense now gets exposed because it is build on the idea of high pressure and making the other team reactionary.

This is the problem with a rigged system, in a team that lacks depth.

Sounds like your are describing another manager I know.

This doesn't explain how you squander a 2-0 lead so easily. There are also other problems.

We need leadership ON the pitch. The last real leader Barca had was Mascherano.
There is noone who is vocal and organises the team.
The inconsistency with this team and club are just maddening.
How many false dawns have we had over the last five to six years??

You're welcome

My point is that if players are having issues with retaining their focus, we are conceding goals regardless of high line or not. In the season Xavi won Liga Ter Stegen had his best La Liga run for us and played big part in the league win.

Yeah, we have a shit backup LB (Fort was awful too btw) and individual mistakes (Kounde and Casado). Which is Barca legacy for decades tbh

Yeah, and then the approach from Flick that is oblivious to these conditions. We don't get Casado sent off if we don't try to play a high line and offside trap at 2-0. When we could have sat deeper just fine.

On top of the personnel problems, we also have a dogmatic idealistic type of manager that attempts to play only one way regardless of existing issues.

There's a fine line between being ballsy and being dumb, and now we're starting to see more and more of the dumber part.

Not quite. The approach matters a lot.

For example, xGA in 2022-23, expected goals against, tells us that even though Stegen was very good that season, the defense as a whole was comfortably the best in the league on a collective level.

We'll see how we progress, but things no longer work atm, and he has to fix it. The situation with the players and the economic problems that lead to a small squad with many Barca B players to fill the gaps were well known factors.

Absolutely, just low block if you're down at 80 minutes. It's obvious.

Clear manager issue, but somehow the offensive was the problem today

There were problems all the way in these last couple of matches, but a win is a win. If you only win when you are in a great shape, and lose points every time the team is an off day, you lose the league. Teams often have off days in 38 league games.

You are expected as a manager to adapt to the conditions and find a way to pick up the 3 pts in adverse conditions. That's the issue. You can still work on issues with 3pts safely in the bag.

This should have been an undeserved valuable win with proper reactions from Flick.
