Hansi Flick - how do we rate him?

People are saying he relies on Lamine, which is true to an extent, but the main reason for that is we have no other attacker who matches his creativity. I don't think that is a weakness of the tactic, rather than the backups for Lamine just not providing the profile he does.

The rest of the attackers are goalscorers, not creators. (Raphinha is creative to an extent but his role is largely getting in behind, whilst Yamal stays out of the box to create).

It's okay to rely on important players as long as you're winning with them in the lineup. Next season we should pick up a good backup for Yamal who we can rotate in if he misses any games.

OK, we are back...
How do we know that? Apart from the score-line?

11 offsides for Mallorca tonight...

6.7 per game on average before the Sociedad game.
3 per game on average the last games since Sociedad

Oh yes, we are back...

PS: Where are the life-losers like Serghei to tell us that Flick should abandon the high-line and become a little bit 'pragmatist'?
NOT even 1 WC coach EVER, has changed their team tactical identity (mind you not specific setups/formations/instructions, but the identity) when things go wrong.
It is the no1 beta trait in coaching and in life in general...
 Laid low for 3 weeks and now are rabid post 1 win

Serghei and a lot of other fans have a valid point regarding our tactical and personnel inflexibility

Good post. We could expect Olmo to offer some offensive creativity too. Yesterday was quite poor, like a blonde Coutinho where if he doesn't get his shot off then there is not much more.

No, they have NOT...
They want their cake and eat it too.

Playing a VERY high line is the essence of Flick's strategy on how the team should defend.
And when the players are sharp and concentrated, it simply works...

Wanting that to change depending on the opponent, is beta logic and no serious coach does that.
Teams have specific identity, and WC coaches like Pep or Klopp for instance, never touch that.
They tweak things around, but never mess up with the basics

The problem is the lack of serious depth in several key positions, like the full-backs or the CF or the dribbling winger.
If Hansi had something like a competitive squad depth, I am sure we would have avoided the slump period

Problem is Olmo is an AM, not a winger
He is creative (look at the through pass for Lamine yesterday led to Raphina's goal for example) and great at scoring close or inside the box

But we need someone who can easily take on his man, and we have none in that department other than Lamine
