Xavi relevant ppg per La Liga season if you care to look at pure numbers.

2.20 in 21-22 (84 pts)
2.50 in 22-23 (95 pts)
2.24 in 23-24 (85 pts)

Despite aesthetic preferences, league form is far superior.

It's cool bro, if some fans are happy with Pretty football and losing, let them have it.

I would suggest they support arsenal or dortmund.

These club clowns are something. Why do we need a Midfielder? Fucking ruining the club for decades.

If we sell Frenkie, Fermin and Torre, which we should, whom are we going to have in midfield?
Pedri, Gavi, Casado & Olmo. Alongside Bernal coming from ACL + meniscus injury.
A midfielder will be needed tbh. Preferably one that isn't shorter than 1.8M

I hear you, but the right thing to do right now is trust the manager to fix it. We can't throw him under the bus so fast and early.

The negatives are clear to see. We are midtable or worse at expected goals against for example, meaning other teams generate clear chances to score against us at an alarmingly efficient rate.

The football has not been pretty.
Except the last game.
I feel like the fans are trying to convince themselves we are playing entertaining football.

They coping hard

Here's another stat. Expected goals against in 2021-22 (basically the worst Barca of the last 20 years or so) before investing 200m or so in the squad under Xavi was 0.9 xGA / match. Now under Flick it is 1.23 xGA / match.

So... one of the immediate things to fix is to defend better, take fewer risks, and concede less clear chances. Make the opponent have to work harder for chances. This is going to help us long term to pick up more points in wasteful days where the attack is missing clear chances.

It is going to be tough to get back if we give our opponents multiple clear chances per match. Teams in La Liga know how to exploit that, get leads and then camp in their own box to defend those.

Don't even want to think about going to Getafe next and having to overturn a potential 0-1.

You are asking Flick to be a different coach than he is, which isn't going to happen.

His whole ideology depends on the trade off between offense and defense. The only way to improve on that is getting better players and GK.

Yes, I am asking for adaptability. A key managerial trait when dealing with imperfect squads.

Everyone wants better players.

I mean we have been telling them Defense wins Championships.

Can't be conceding two goals per game and expecting to win a league

I would love to see a stat about how many big chances we concede per game.

Not winning anything, if you need to score 3 goals just to actual win every game.

I dont think we need to sell Fermin or Torre. Both are perfect rotation players. And low on wages.
We do need to sell Fdj.
And I am going with that, after selling fdj we still wont need a midfielder. Its fine, we will manage.
What we desperatly need is LB and ST, or a LW/ST hybrid.

I agree, cant expect Flick to change, and we all knew what we are getting. People should recall when he was being confirmed, everyone said "we will concede a lot, but in turn we will outscore". We just forgot how to score. LOL

It's not like you turn into a defensive side if you take more precautions. It's more in the line of being a more balanced, robust side.

There's a difference between naive, chaotic aggression and controlled, sistematic aggresion.

Flick needs to transition from one to the other.
