Not arguing with you, but what has that gotten us?.

There's still cups to play for. Let's see what happens.

I don't think people understand. I was never super pro Hansi Flick. I am in the stage of let's wait and see while being frustrated at some of his decision making this season.

But at the same time last year we were sent packing by Athletic in the Copa. We kept losing close games to RM and got destroyed by them in the Supercopa. Girona were playing like with like we were the little brother in Catalunya.

People were claiming how this squad wasn't close to good enough to compete and win vs. the better teams in Europe. Just check out the archived Xavi thread + old match threads.

I don't know if Hansi Flick is the solution, but I cannot understand how people watched everything that transpired last season and still believe Xavi would be? Make it make sense to me.

I don't care about the results. What matters to me is whether I enjoy the quality of the game when I turn on a Barcelona match here and now.

I remember the feeling with which I watched most of Barcelona's matches during Xavi's championship season.

Thank you. I don't lie down with memories of that La Liga title.

Moreover, thinking of Pep's Barcelona, my memories are only of the quality of play. Titles are just a nice bonus.

Losing is never entertaining. The only reason a Barca manager is given time if failing to achieve the biggest objectives is if there is a real possibility of changing this in the future.

And Leganes? Las Palmas? Celta? Betis? Come on... the team does a poor job in defense, and if the attack has a bad day, points dropped. Almost all the time it happens.

He either fixes this issue, or no league title for him. Despite the good football.

None of these games lost because of the 'defense'

Actually, let's ask another question:
in HOW MANY games of the ones we dropped points did our players fuck up Flick?

- Celta: not great game, but W in the bag with 0-2 in min. 80' and then two brain-farts by two players cost us a game

- Leganes, attackers missed every chance there is in the book. Could have been 6-0

- Atletico, same

- Tonight, same, could have been 1-3 in the 1st half already despite their lucky goal

That's 10 points!!!
10 points that the players and not Flick threw to the trashbin.
Do your calculations to see where we would sit in the table with 10 more points

I can apply this to any manager almost. Flick is managing a team far beyond the quality of the La Liga sides bar two. Certainly it is not only the squad that is to blame here .

Let's look only at last season.

he was averaging more points, than flick currently is in the league.

Played Madrid close in two games, should have gotten a draw at the least.

Best Atleti.

Girona skinned us.

Araujo likely cost us a CL SF.

Also let's assume he was in charge and got 1 signing, which would likely be a DM instead of Olmo since that's what he constantly complained about.

If he maintained or improved on last season points per game, we would be top of the league or tied

While also at the likely making at least the CL QF and after that anything can happen.

Not that massive if a leap of your think about it logically.

Flick has improved the football and big wins against top teams, but overall we are worse off than where we were last season in the league.

If you enjoy purely the results then start watching Zrevena Zvezda. They win 93% of their matches in a season. Good luck, guys.

No doubt there's logic here, but it's a real possibility that Flick's superior attacking football is gonna produce a lot more in CL. That's the key argument for Flick so far that makes me back him.

You're assuming he had the squad behind him after he was trashing them publicly.
I don't know the answer to that, but some of the leaks and comments made by players suggest that might not have been the case.

I did not say the 'squad' in general

I said the players let him hang dry in all those games I listed, mostly by missing sitter after sitter after sitter
(and in the Celta game by sending themselves off or handing empty nets)

Same players were scoring for fun in crucial games, like vs Madrid.
It's not that they are not capable of scoring. There is something else going on

You wanna criticize Flick for the Osasuna, Sociedad, Betis games when the team was poor AND we lost the points?
That's fine

But you have to be fair here
Every time there is a bad result, there is a meltdown here and instant attacks on Flick, w/o ever wondering if he was responsible

Yea his football is more suited to the CL. As many have said here, but we got to the QF last season, so he would need to improve on that, and win the Copa for us to say we made a step forward compare to what was before, outside of the more attacking football.
