Most important was that this didn't go to extra time.

With the Euro Super Copa, CL Intermediate stage, and extra times in Copa and CL, Real Madrid have played 360 minutes more than us so far this season.

That's the equivalent of three matches.

This could be huge as we enter the run in of the season.

Not to mention they have WCC in June so likely carry this into next season.

Just a shame we had those Nations League games for Pedri and Frenkies legs.

Camera doesn't really film him much doing the game. Guess it's because he's expressionless most of the time, unlike Simeone
Compared to Simeone, he probably isn't very expressive.
But from the footage we have seen this whole year, he seems to be a lot more expressive than his year in Bayern or Germany.
He doesn't seem to be very "Stoic", as it was said during his joining. Maybe I am wrong here.

FDJ being back to full fitness has been huge for control of games.

Paired with Pedri it offers vastly more control than others in there.

Flick has pointed this out himself numerous times.. as have other coaches.

FDJ and Pedri are very good at holding ball tactically. See them do it all the time in trying to create over loads on the left to create space on right for Yamal to switch to.

Other midfielders are often too quick to pass to first free man they see free and folk get overly impressed with it being moving ball quickly when it is not doing much.

Riqui Puig was the king of that deception.

Difference between him and xavi in body language is unreal. His confidence transmitted to players a lot, with tactics it seems bingo. Xavi had at moments deployed that direct fast paced display, but he overthink a lot, cant transmit calmness and knowledge he has to players. He cared too much. I believe xavi has something in him, but he should go be a pep assistant for year or two.

Hansi, for now is doing fantastic. There is still room for improvement and thats what is the best part.
Thank you mister

Hansi about treble: “Dreaming is allowed, but we have to be focused and work hard. That's what we will do. It's not easy. I have a fantastic team around me, great, professional players. The club and the fans can be very proud of how the team played tonight and reached the final.”

I wouldn't be so confident about beating Real Madrid. I'm still worried about our high line. Those passes from the flank (see Vinni's pass to Endrik against Real Sociedad) are still dangerous for our high line.

Before the match, Flick told the dressing room "We have to win and avenge our teammate Raphinha." This is due to the fact that after the International Break, Flick noticed Raphinha returned both physically and mentally exhausted. [

As good a season we've had, it's annoying that so far nothing has been won and also that Madrid have somewhat same chances of reaching the goals we have with the treble.

Now of course we have the upper hand in the league and an easier path to CL final, but it's still possible the treble ends up in Madrid despite them playing haramball compared to our great Hansiball.

Yes, both teams have the chance to either make or break each other's treble dreams. Especially if we get a CL clasico final as well. Imagine 3 clasicos remaining would decide all 3 competitions. The season would go down forever in history and the coach winning all of them would probaby get a statue in front of the stadium.

Think you are right. Flick has that calmness but maintains the tension still. Maybe it's an experience thing.

There were those that argued for him to be more pragmatic and those that argued against
He plays the same brand of football like before. The essential weaknesses of our defense are still there but we rely less on offside traps now.

Team also controls games better so they get exposed less. The dynamics have changed since December, they are more disciplined now and watch out at the back.

It has more to do with the approach. Szczesny is on goal and it obviously plays a big role. Team plays dirty and tough when needed like last night.

In general I don't think he has tweaked the system too much. Defensive records in 2025 are great but we will still probably see our team concede a lot of dumb goals in late stages of CL. Because everything comes with a cost.

In November-December team's problems were mental before anything else. And some of us were screaming trying to explain that back then but others were telling us how high line is found out, how he's a bundesliga merchant, clueless of league football and all kinds of BS.
