It is a high risk plan and depends on the defence being on the top of their game.
Which is why it will be interesting to see how Araujo adapts considering he is generally not so good at "getting out" in time.

It quite obviously did far as Real getting closer to Barca goal with regularity. Was far more a matter of people waiting for trap to be broken than anything else

Created nothing offensively bar the one Lamine clanger

Eh, one way to look at it. For me our defence was on point.

Pipe down mate... Madrid had literally 1 shot in the first half, that Vini miss after the solo dribble. All of the other "chances" were offsides

Absolutely. We will have days that it is broken and we lose- for sure.

But half the success is that a) VAR currently favours the defensive player to the millimetre meaning it is not that easy to beat because of the directional momentums and b) the offside trap encourages the opposition enough to give us the openings to counter.

But playing this successful isn't easy, just look at our first goal and how Madrids defence failed. You got to be switched on AF for a full 90. So kudos for Flicks team for coaching this and for Inigo/Pau performing this with laser focus and not burning out considering we just done Madrid-Bayern in 3 days. Two of Europes top 6 sides.

One thing to say there were no errors called
Another to claim was never in doubt
Barca were getting picked open for same runs repeatedly

Paid off in the end but first half wasn't "dead even" lol

You're welcome
Barca generally did fuckall entire first half bar that Lamine chance
People act as if it was a lock all night, it wasn't
But done well to persist and stick to guns. Couldn't know Mbappe wouldn't finish his dinner
not tru. Lewa and inigo header as well.

real only had the vini chance from angle that he shot way wide.

Flick offside system is almost perfection in the semi offside machine era.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's done the research and seen how many goals would have been called offside in the past, if we had this kind of technology and came to the conclusion that the risk is worth the reward, because the machine will call offside 90% of the time.

He made our players run like his old dogs!

Can't believe people doubted this ALPHA MALE who didn't change his high-line system even when facing three of the fastest/deadliest attackers in space with Inigo and Cubarsi.

THANK YOU HERR HANSI!!!

TBF this team suits him better than for example the Germany side, arguably more well rounded than Barca, that he inherited at the time
No less impressive he's making likes of Lewa and Inigo look serviceable football players
