I get the weird feeling Flick is prioritizing UCL over La Liga

Probably a bad habit from his Bayern days when Bundesliga was a stroll in the park. Maybe he should look at 2014-15 season when matches in La Liga were tougher than many CL matches back when we even had a stellar team. Not to mention that in 2014 and 2016 we got sent home in CL by Atletico.

La Liga is not some 2nd rate league where you just show up and points are usually won easily because the other teams clown around in defense leaving huge gaps at the back. You often got to dig hard and suffer for the points.

Including some posters here acted not long ago as if those Las Palmas, Celta, Sociedad matches are easy, and La Liga is a weak competition with only Madrid to worry about. Now they are finding out that they are in fact difficult matches, and any drop of form can easily lead to lost points at an alarming rate.

Nothing to do with the league's difficulty.

He has a super thin squad with no depth and numerous long term injuries.

His Bayern squad was stronger and deeper than this.

Barca's bench options are abysmal and rotation is simply not possible. If you play the squad players, you're guaranteed to drop points.

This results in collective squad fatigue and the starters are knackered. At Bayern, Flick had subs like Perisic on loan who's absolutely brilliant. At Barca, he has Ferran. That's the difference.

Also, when Xavi got criticized for his conservative tactics in 2022-23 for me that is adaptability to squad deficiencies, not his style as a manager. We don't know how he would have chosen to play with a great deep squad.

If Flick takes his vision and leads it to 85 points that is poor.

You're guaranteed to drop points if you are not very good because the league is strong. You have to credit teams like Las Palmas, Celta, Sociedad etc.

I don't have to explain it much tbh, Spanish clubs have most European titles by a good margin with 67. La Liga has been no1 or no2 in Europe for decades. Spain dominated Euro last year with mostly La Liga players.

All I Have To Say And I’ve Been Saying This To My Friends Since The Xavi Days, I Believe It’s More The Player’s Fault Than The Manager, I Hate How The Culture Of This Club Has Been Accustomed To Blaming Manager Instead Of The Players. When You See After The 22-23 Season, After The Espanyol Game, You Have To Notice That The Players Became Really Complacent And Lazy, Especially In The Beginning Of The 23-24 Season, Where I Believe The League Was Lost When We Drew 2-2 To Both Mallorca And Granada Due To Stupid Mistakes And Missed Chances. You Guys Have To Notice That The Players Should Be As Accountable As The Managers, The Amounts Of Chances They Missed In The Last 2 Seasons Is Treasonable And Cost Us Many Points. Due To Their Incompetence In Front Of Goal, We Have Suffered Too Much, Especially In December ‘23 - January ‘24.

I’m Not Trying To Be That Guy, But Flick Should Adapt To Winning Games No Matter What, Even If We’re Getting Dominated, Something Xavi Was Good At In His 2.5 Seasons At The Club. Besides That, I Still Believe The Players Let The Managers Down, 4 Seasons And Still The Same Errors….

Of course. Squad wise we should have been trophyless since 2021 or so when we basically entered a period of austerity.

Flick imo has to do wonders to win a big title with a thin squad and difficult rivals both in Spain and in Europe. If he fails narrowly it doesn't mean that he is a bad manager in the slightest.

I Have Noticed That Squad Depth Has Always Been A Problem In This Club, Even In The Best Time Of This Institution’s History, We Had Depth Problems That Cost Us Many Titles

Half of that team should not start for Barca. Some good results don't change the fact that Balde, Eric, Fort and Victor are all bums. Casado should be bench material for now, not starter.
For me only Raphinha and Inigo have been consistent and carrying this season.
Both were/are to be discarded according to Barca fans.

Pedri dribbled past 20 times, 6 (1) ground duels won yesterday. Useless as defender, no offensive output. Not mentioned. WHY?

Our defense is shit, but Pedri and Gavi really are the most overrated, or just players that don't take average matches seriously, for being from that team he played like shit.

Casado is more useful than both of them. Actually wins the ball sometimes.
Flick wants to play pressing and high line but has no ball winner besides Inigo who is a defender. The others barely can keep the ball.

Everyone here was laughing at Xavi for wanting Zubimendi, "weak overrated Spaniard", but he's a class player that actually wins duels and gets the ball, same as Valverde. Look at the stats.

I'd sell Gavi for 100 and snap up Zubimendi in a hearbeat. I guess he doesn't look imposing so some thought the braindead Vardrid midfielders were better.
@DonAK

We know this won't happen, Frenkie is not a ball winner either, so you have to play smart, if you can't win the ball back!

Sure, there are others in first 11 that are overrated. I was talking about the obvious ones.

Yes, it was a problem even in better times. Cuenca playing a CL semis vs Chelsea, Bojan a semi vs Inter in 2010. We had subpar squad depth often, but not as bad as in recent years.

For me Flick started incredible, well past my expectations, and now he's falling more in line to what the team's situation is, with the deficiencies making their presence felt. Maybe a bit under in terms of results. Remains to be seen if he can elevate the playing level again.
