Can he play box-box role? He is clearly more comfortable in midfield. He is direct, pacy, skilled at shooting, passing and looks to 've the stamina to cover ground.
His inhibitions could be associated with the new environs and the eagerness to be accepted. If Pep plays him right and regularly we could get more out of him starting next season.
I thought he had a decent game last night. His low crosses, some of which can be threatening go begging as there is practically no one in the box. I don't care what others say but i don't mind his long range shots. I don't want all our players with 'walk the ball in to the net' approach. He is getting closer and those mean shots will eventually find the net.
Agreed. Good post
He really is more comfortable in the midfield as he played there in PSV and that is his position. He isnt a RW/LW but it just happends that he has the qualities to be able to play there and he is willing to play wherever his coach asks him to. Remember Keita ahead of the UCL finals? He said that he didnt want to play left back bla bla. That is something Yayas agent was mentioning all the time
And again, Afellay would be best if he was used in the midfield, AM when possible. There he has the best use of his long shots, passing, dribbling etc and can use his pace to run through defenses. He is also good on the LW tho, but I just hope Pep doesent play him on the RW again since that position clearly isnt for him.
edit: And I find it retarded when Guardiola subs him in on the 90th minute or somewhere in the extra time. He has done it atleast 3 times now and when he gets in, he doesent even get to touch the ball and the match is over. I just find it stupid and utterly retarded. When you've waited so long, might aswell not sub him in at all. And these subs havent been for time wasting since the score line has been atleast 2 goals up for Barca.
