Ibrahim Afellay

No he didnt. Kept the ball for his team well, almost as he did for Psv. Here in Holland the opponent needed a fault to get him of the ball most of the time... this proves what i ment with him being skinny but somehow strong on the ball.

Still i wish for more danger in the 16.. enough matches to come i think...

i love the barca crowd cheering for this guy! very supportive!

Yeah, but its difficult to show what you can in a limited time. Would be great to see him start against Betis next week.

Nothing to be impressed of so far.

Its hard to impress after a geniune Messi-show! He played for 20 minutes in total, be patient. ;)

He made some wrong run decissions, someone near him got the ball, and then he didnt know what to do and stood there for a couple of seconds, then he ran a little to the side. He never made any run throughs, and almost caused a goal against us.
So overall not the best performance, but it will take a while to get used to it.

He seems extremely nervous on the field. He needs to loosen up a bit. I really enjoy that he's a hard-worker.

Yeah he is still nervous. He made a very poor back pass that almost led to a betis counterattack. Frustration will start to grow if he stays like this for a few more games. I say let him start or play the whole game in the 2nd game.

Well what were you expecting? That he started games? If players like Mascherano,Keita, (before them Touré),... are on the bench then why on earth would Afellay start?
He better gets used to it because I don't see him starting in regular games. Maybe the game at Betis is a good opportunity for him to start. But other than that I don't see him as a starter.

I agree. Im surprised that he is the nr1 sub after just two weeks of training. He needs to make use of the minutes he gets and train hard, its simple as that. If Afellay really wants to move up the ranks, he needs to score goals or at least cause real damage in the opponents 16.

He will, I hope he starts against Malaga or Betis, those are the perfect games for him.

Like he is the number one ... He is the newest player, and he gets on the pitch when we're already winning. These are just a few minutes to let him play and introduce himself a bit.

Very excited, still, about the player but he doesn't look near enough ready to start a match just yet

So you think that after this introduction period Afellay won't play at all.

Sure he will. But he will have to share minutes with Bojan and occasionally Jeffren.

Pedro-Villa-Messi are just a few steps above the subs right now. Neither do I think there is a ranking of subs, one game Bojan will get his minutes, the other game Afellay will.
I hope he and Bojan will start once in awhile to rest Pedro or Villa (cause Messi always plays) but at this point in time, I don't see any of those two challenge for a place in the starting line-up.

For the creative part in midfield, he can sod off. If Iniesta or Xavi gets replaced, it needs to be Thiago (or Jonathan if he gets his act together) first, always.

I agree with you that the subs still need to make steps to challenge Peps 1st choices for the starting line-up. I do think that Afellay is still in the running for the creative part of the midfield. I also think that Barca eventually will get Fabregas as a replacement for Xavi.

Oh yes, he will get a chance on the midfield if he really is able to play there (I don't know). Pep will want to try that, I suppose.

It was a personal statement. If there is a place on the midfield, it should go to Thiago for me.
