It's a lot to take in for a new player, coming into a precision run midfield...But, I have to still say I am a bit surprised by how nervous he has continued to look...This is a player who has played for the Dutch NT, Captain of PSV and nearly 25 years of age...I suppose I expected a bit more from him, just in terms of intent on the pitch

If nothing else, in a CDR match, I expected him to show the confidence he has when he's normally out there but you can tell he's overthinking everything and doesn't look fluid or natural

I know, I know...it's still far too early...I guess I just expected a bit more earlier on from him

I really felt that he wasnt as nervous in Camp Nou compared to the first 10 minutes he got. You could also see him continiously asking for the ball. Thats not a sign of someone being nervous. A nervous player will be afraid to make a mistake and thus try to 'hide' on the pitch.

Oh yes, he will get a chance on the midfield if he really is able to play there (I don't know). Pep will want to try that, I suppose.

It was a personal statement. If there is a place on the midfield, it should go to Thiago for me.
This.

you can see that he is not in the barca style of thinking, he doesn't sacrice himself enough for the team. mascherano on the other hand transitioned himself to Barca's model very very quickly.

What do you mean by he doesn't sacrifice himself? Do you have an example.

This is so true,he doesnt even look like the player he was at PSV. Its nice mocro you want too defend Ibi,but if you saw the minutes he played already for Barça you saw he is not feeling comfortable. Its not a problem it just needs some time.

lol...I said exactly what you were saying, about him not looking comfortable on the pitch. Im not defending him. I just give my opinion. ;)

The skills/talent are obviously there but if he continues this deer in the headlight routine, Pep would be better served to play Barca B players who would be more fearless out there...I guess that Red Bull moment of Pep instructing Ibra was intended to light a fire under him, maybe?

We already have a 'nice' player in Bojan, we need a confident player with an edge from all that experience to take to the pitch...Otherwise, we'll have to wait until 2011-2012 season to see what Afellay can do

this guy only played 4 min there and few min last game at least let him play
one game or even few games then start judging him, but judging him now and like

Hes asking a lot for the ball, which is a good thing.
So far he did good. I hope he will start against Betis and will play full 90 minutes.

IMHO, you shouldn't do that. All new players need time to assimilate. Well, except for Villa obviously.

Villa already had experience with most Barca keyplayers in the Spanish squad. So he had an advantage over other new players. Also he came from Valencia (same league, same language, etc.).

I agree with what is said above. We can overanalyze 20 minutes of play, but will that amount of playtime do any player justice? I doubt it.
