Laporta is not a saint.Plus he got lucky with Pep.He could have gotten someone like Lucho. Most hated him at 2008(look at first page of his thread).I hope the socis take into consideration everything before deciding

Unless laporta does terrible campaigning or someone else does a miraculous one I don't see laporta losing.

Who said he is a saint? He had his problems, but he manage to build the best Barça in history. He also knew how to pick competent people to work for him. And he cared about the club, not only about himself, or some petty revenge.

He's not lol, that's fairly obvious to anyone, but I think people back then bought into Rosell's rubbish, he barely survived a vote of no confidence because of that and then you have Rijkaard's last season which didn't end well.

People often fail to acknowledge something good or value something good before they see the complete opposite of it which has happened during Rosell/Bartomeu's term.

Clearly he is not a saint but what he is a very charismatic politician for the club.

I dont go along with the idea he built the greatest team ever. It was Pep who deserved 90% of credit for that but Laporta was President when he was appointed. The club was a bit of a mess before Pep came in.

If Laporta that joined Barca in 2004 comes in I am all for it. If it is the Laporta of 2008 not so much as Pep wont be there with him.

I'd imagine he's prepared better this time.

But I heard he ran the club deep in red (debt)? If I remember correctly he was very critical of the deal with Qatar, I wonder what his plan is in terms of sustaining financial well-being of our club?

The club were in debt. Some of that had to accumulate for the club to grow and some was down to a lot of money lost in the transfer market.

Laporta played down the debt and said it was neccesary while Rosell said it was far to high and poor financial management. The truth was somewhere in between.

It is the way it is with every Barca board. Whoever comes in next will blames their short comings on previous board.

Did you miss the lawsuit, who was in favor of Laporta? The judge declared Laporta left Barça in the green, not in red, as rosell claimed. This was around oct/2014.
If you searched the Laporta thread, there must be the news there.

What page is that on?

The club was heavily in debt in comparison to how football clubs are measured. I am sure that has never been disputed. They lost 100m alone in that last year.

There was a definite need for shirt sponsorship etc for the club going forward.

The judge said Laporta left the club with no debt. It was in october, I have no idea of the page.

Flavia Barcelona without doubt had debt and still do now. That is well documented.

The judge found in favour of Laporta in that there was no fraudulent cooking of the books and also took into account the clubs assets as well as liabilities.

It was idiotic for Rossel to take that action but in the way debt at football clubs is measure than Barca were close to 600m euros in debt at the time.

Its about defintions of debt but there were massive loans to the bank then and still are now.

EDit: This explains better than I could.

Would have to see the campaigns first. Wouldn't just vote in Laporte because its Laporta though.
