Interesting how the Valdes exit rumours are coinciding with the Casillas-Mou rift

Ahh the media, those trolls.

So did he have a strong case because of his performances, or because he had a band around his arm?

He got dropped at RM ffs. And it wasn't some lunatic decision. He has had a below-par 2012-13 season. There were a lot of Spanish players who were more important for Spain during the Euros. And for Real Madrid last season too. Cristiano, Ozil, Di Maria, Pepe, Ramos, Alonso.
He got dropped for political/personal reasons, let's not ignore that point! And it's a stupid decision.

Let's not play down his importance at Euro 2012, important saves in the group stages against Croatia and Italy, one from Motta was excellent. Key penalty save against Portugal. In the final at 2-0, he made an excellent block from Di Natale, that goes in and it could have changed things.

As Adil mentioned he was was a key player for Spain and Real Madrid last season. Watched nearly all of Real's game's last season and can safely say he was more important than Alonso, Di Maria and Pepe. Di Maria started 16 games in La Liga and of the nine games that Pepe missed three had clean sheets(13 in total last season)

As for this season, I don't think Casillas has been poor at all. They've only conceded 1 goal more than Barcelona, has Valdes had a very poor season then? After 18 games last season, they had let in two less goals, not much difference especially when you take into account Adan has started the last two games and Real had shipped 6 goals. Yes Casillas came in, but it was Adan's mistake for pen and red card.

The problem for Real has been going forward, they scored 65 goals after 18 games last year, this season it's 45 a massive drop. Maybe it's the lack of penalties this season.

Casillas importance and performances are being underrated by yourself.

Casillas hasn't looked assured so far. With a team as physical as RM they shouldn't concede so much from corners. Not to mention how he's acted on FKs.

Still waiting for an official statement about the injury. From what I've read, fracture isn't ruled out.

A club statement this morning confirmed Casillas had a fracture.

"After carrying out initial x-rays at the La Moraleja Sanitas Hospital it has been confirmed that the footballer Iker Casillas has suffered a fracture at the base of the first metacarpal on his left hand," the statement read.

"It will be assessed again by a specialist later today to decide what treatment will be followed.

He's probably still better than that Adan guy. So no matter how you look at it, him not playing is good for us.

I feel sad for him, he's a great keeper and a great guy from what we can see in public. Hope he's back soon. This gives Mou the chance to try his super keeper Adan.
