I feel bad for Cuenca, Tello's already stolen his thunder as the latest La Masia graduate!

he's in a weird situation, though.

he's obviously not as explosive as Tello, so is unlikely to get the kind of sub minutes that Tello gets. but he's also more likely to start games because he's much more defensively diligent and hard-working for the team. so glad to have two La Masia boys providing the team with solid depth up-front. hope they don't mind being rarely used because once everyone is fit up-front they will be a ways down the pecking order.

well, Cuenca will. Tello with his sheer pace and winger-ness will always be in the picture, I think.

I was thinking the same about Cuenca, Meta...Shame, he was on such a roll ahead of the winter break but has fallen far back in the pecking order...Concur on Tello's explosive pace being the biggest reason for that...Still, Cuenca is a keeper though

Cuenca can provide something different to Tello .. the problem is the team already have 3/4 players available now to do the same as Isaac .. holding the ball and track back with decent skills ..

Tello's pace is what we lack at the moment among the 1st team players .. so I see that's why Tello is gonna be used more often that Cuenca in the coming weeks ..

Tello's pace means he must always remain an option, imagine him against someone shite like Arbeloa or Altintop in a clasico.

Cuenca & Tello saga reminds me of JDS & Thiago... Only I hope Cuenca doesn't allow himself to fall behind as much as JDS did

He needs to work on his first touch a bit more, he almost always gets dispossessed after flicking the ball up when he receives it. I can see why Pep starts him over Tello, he's a more complete player right now (though he still has to improve a lot).

Ball was bouncing up on first touch for many players today. I'm guessing that pitch is in pretty poor condition.

From Pep:

"Even though, in general terms, Barça dominated the match against Racing Santander, Josep Guardiola said that the game required his players to “play a very serious match.” According to the manager, his players had to put in a strong effort to take the three points seeing that the pitch at El Sardinero was not in good condition."

He has a broader set of skills than Tello but he also has to continue to do the Pedro things that got him this far, as well...Which means he should be challenging his marker more - that aspect of his game seems to have disappeared a bit since December

Barçapocalypse NOW!
Tello is more explosive and more direct, that why his impact seems more evident... Cuenca is good enough to hold on his own, he needs to use his head more as he dribbles into dead ends quite often, but that will come with time...

And yeah, the pitch was disastrous yesterday, you could see that even passes were bouncing all over the place...
