I think part of it is that he's being limited in his play. His first thought when he gets the ball is 'Who can I pass it to in defence'. He was never like that at Sevilla.



That's what Busquets should be for. I don't think Verratti would be impossible to buy either, he'd be a substantial improvement on Rakitic.

Rakitic plays the role he is set up to do. I can think of Gundogan from Dortmund and Jorginho from Napoli as players who would actually be available and would be able to control the pace of the game with a wide range of passing skills.

You did watch the game? Like 70% of Gijons attacks went trough Barca´s left side, that has nothing to do with Rakitic.
When he was subbed in the 75th minute he ran 9km in the game!


That being said ... i said it before and ill say it again its time for him to leave. He has some good years left in him and it would be a shame for his talent if they were wasted playing a personal defender for Messi.
He was great in Sevilla when he was the offensive MF ...

I dont think the club really have the option to sell Iniesta and rebuilding midfield includes looking to replace him through time.

Raki is not performing consistently and technically isnt that great.

Not desperate to sell him but to rebuild the midfield I would if got decent fee for him.
