He was shit before the contract as well for most part.
I think he just lacks the quality to be anything more than the legs for other players in a team like Barca.

He was good v PSG in home leg. Mainly for his pressing really.
Just not good enough on ball for what a Barca starter should be for me but hasnt been a bad signing and had some good big games.
You have all those Clasicos, Bayern, CL Final, PSG. Those were best of the best and he delivers. He just needs a kick up his arse like Busquets and few others.
Saying that he's not good enough for Barca is odd but we all have different views. Yeah, I don't like his slowish reaction on the ball either, it's a far cry from Xavi. But GL signing a donkey for Messi who is boss on the ball.
And remember who they picked last summer as marquee signing?

Cant remember too many classicos or games v Atletico he has been great in. Even Champions league final thought the midfield got over run for a while in that game until the front three took over.
Did a good job when used to plug Messi/Alves on right. Anything else he looks very average more often than not and technically could have a lot better than him.

Pretty much this. He is nowhere near barca level in core talent. But he does really well by acknowledging his shortcomings and making it up by defensive duties which we need. He has had some good games but his peak form is nowhere near a peak form you would expect from a barca mdifielder.
Still a fine signing who works his socks off and is still a better option in midfield compared to a lot of mediocrity in our midfield.

Not the guy we need at the moment. He thrives in a healthy system with more dynamic players around him. When things go static, he's not capable of changing the status quo. If Unzue doesn't have a plan for him, then he should be sold instead of being a fringe player.

I really don't see what some people see in him. His form was already declining but when Alves left he should have left with him, because his value went with the wind.
