Valverde plays him most likely because he likes it safe and controlled on the midfield, and that option is Rakitic for him. And even if it is true that he made an verbal agreement with valverde, I don't blame him, it's on valverde accepting those terms. Did PSG trigger the clause, i don't think the club would have cared that much to let him go, and did psg make an 80-100m offer, then Rakitic doesn't strike me as the player to force a move out. His wife is from spain, she didn't even wanna move from sevilla and her family in the first place, and didn't wanna date him because he was a footballer. He is a down to earth guy who never complains, and we bought him for 20m... he has been a huge transfer success. You hate the guy, you are a total moron imo.

sure, but that was 34-35 year old Xavi. Rakitic wouldn't even get a sniff of the Camp Nou grass otherwise.
He was world class for us in 14-15 and I'm thankful for his contributions towards the treble. But it's statements like the above that have people disliking Rakitic. His gameplay since 2016 doesn't help either.
You should come to terms with the fact that common sense has no place on football forums. After that, it gets easier to read "fans" opinions.

I never thought, even when he arrived that he would be a regular starter. I'm croatian and i'm watching him and his performances since his basel days and i know that he's not a 'barca dna material or barca quality' , never was, but in those circumstances that we are right now he's got more positives then negatives. This season he had more brainfarts compared to all other seasons combined, i agree. But i still think that is because he needs rest, him and modric gave everything in this world cup and they both play like shit this season, its not a coincidence. But besides that, i'd rather have him in our squad, RESTED(fuck you ev) then being completely out of picture. If you understand what i'm trying to say. He was never meant to be what he is today for us, but thanks to our board he became a regular starter.

I think Rakitic will play for Barca for years more, he is one of the most important Barca players. He may be the fittest player on the current squad, he thrives on high workloads. Every game, he is exceptional in midfield defense. His positioning as the opponents try to advance the ball out of their defensive half is so good, he knows what the opponents are going to try to do before they do. His offensive contribution varies more, but it is good to have a defensive midfielder more willing to join into the attack than Busquets.

Well stated guys. Rakitic has been an outstanding member of the squad, good teammates, and absolute bargain. Yes he is no Xavi or Iniesta, but there have not been another one of those anywhere in the world since those guys played. Rakitic is still one of the top 10 all around midfielders in the world and should be key to the Barca ROTATION this year + 1-2 more..
Rakitic only just makes the Barca top ten midfielders !!
