plus with the international friendlies coming up (I think Rakitic will only play the game vs England and come back sooner), I would rest him vs Valencia and put Vidal in his place.

Just like in the other thread, I feel like you formulate your opinions on Rakitic based on what you expect to see and not what actually happens. Rakitic does have good defensive games but this was ABSOLUTELY not one of them. He was often missing especially in the second half when Tottenham were mounting pressure for their comeback.

I love this guy, but he needs a rest.
We saw what happened with Arthur and Vidal on pitch together, without Rakitic
He is not a great player to watch playing but he is important balance in midfield.
He is most used player in past few years, that tells something about his importance to Barca.
Solid game, nothing special, goal was superb

Mundo Deportivo pointed out that prior to his wonder goal; Rakitic had given the ball away 4 times in a row. Hopefully his golazo gives him a confidence boost because as of now he looks soulless.

Amazing volley though; probably his best goal ever. At Wembley as well.
