I'm sure we can find better investment than both of those. I'd say Mbappe is not even near young Neymar. When we signed Neymar in 2013, he was a better player than Mbappe is now.

I think I disagree. Mbappé did not only emulate the numbers Neymar put up at that age, he actually did that in Europe in CL scoring for fun against the likes of City, Juventus and Dortmund while at the same time winning a league title with the underdog team. Oh yeah and the WC of course.. To me it's clear this is special. Players like Pélé started off their careers this impressive.

Mbappe is Madrid bound. The sooner you face it the better. And he's good, but not THAT good as to pay 250m. for him or some absurd sum like that. He is fast, and scores goals, but far from the finished package. Nowhere near young Messi or young R9.

Messi & Cr7 are probably the most dominant players in history of club football. R9 was probably the greatest young talent ever and he is the mix of both CR7 & Messi in terms of talent but never had the same work ethic of those 2 guys and had Messi's injury issue.
It isn't fair to compare players to those folks. We might go for another decade(s) without seeing a player close to them
Mpabbe has been far better than any player of his generation for past 3 years. It is tough not to consider him a generational talent atm

Let's see him be decisive in the big games first. Then we can talk. Last seasons he was terrible vs the 2nd string of United. He has massive potential, but he's not there yet. Still plays like a kid with the normal inconsistencies.

He doesn't score a lot of goals and he isn't that fast. Let him go to Man Utd for 130m or whatever BVB want for him.

For an 18/19 year old I think Sancho does score a lot of goals and assists, i posted his goal and assist ratio further back and If you say Sancho isn't fast, i don't think you've watched too much of him.

Good video showing his pace and skills.

Messi won his first Ballon d'or at 21. And had 4 by 25.

Ronaldo (9) won his first Ballon d'or at 20.

Mbappe is not at their level in terms of play at nearly 21.

Sure, but Messi and Ronaldo at 21 and 20 also didn't have to compete with Messi and Ronaldo in their late 20s and 30s for a Ballon D'Or.

What does that even mean?

A player you can build your team around, that's exceptional and is going to be among the top 3 players in the World for a long time.

Mbappé doesn't have to be on their level to be a generational talent/player. He's so far ahead of his peers it's ridiculous to claim he's overrated or not that great.

Don't get me wrong, he's great, but it's not a given that he'll achieve the bolded part. Neymar is a great example of how things can change quickly. He made a few wrong turns, and wasted 3 years of what should've been his peak. Now he's close to 30.

While that's true and fair, I don't see Mbappé making any stupid decisions. The guy's obsessed with becoming a great footballer and winning like Messi and CR.

Neymar might love winning and being great, but there's a lot of other things he loves as well.

What I'm trying to say is that from what I've heard and read, Mbappé is wise beyond his years and very careful about making career decisions whether it's a new contract, club or a sponsorship deal.

Lots of Mbappe fans in here tonight. :busquets:

I will say he's clearly better than his peers but also that this isn't the strongest generation.

He had great games against the likes of City,Argentina etc.
Also, this is the same argument that was said about CR7 until his mid-20's. And now people don't even remember this. It is very weak argument for a player of that age.
Who is decisive in big games that is 3 years younger/older than him? He is at least 3 years away from hitting his peak (not even 21 yet) and to ask him to show more isn't fair.

Messi won his first Ballon d'or at 21. And had 4 by 25.

Ronaldo (9) won his first Ballon d'or at 20.

Messi won first ballon at the age of 22.5 years actually.
Ronaldo (R9) was 21 and 2 month when he won his first ballon (one year younger for FIFA award, that was still new back then)
IF Mpabbe won it for 2020 he will do it younger than both. Unlikely though.
And Ronaldinho for example won his first ballon at the age of 25, FIFA at the age of 24. such a flop he was

What does that even mean?

Obviously it is very subjective, for me a player who is way ahead of his peers. Top 5 player for at least 4-5 years. And when it is all said and done he will be remembered as one of the best of his time.
It could be argued that Mpabbe has already reached that level.

Anyway, if Mbappé becomes available, Barcelona have to do everything in their power to convince the guy to join us instead. He might still prefer Real Madrid, but the least you should do is give it all.

There's no guarantee a better player pops up in this generation.

It was awarded when Messi was 22 for the extraordinary season he played AT 21 (08-09). You know what I meant.
