James could be a phenomenal player for Real in the right system but I don't see how they can accommodate him without sacrificing defensive stability or one of their star attackers. Ronaldo is quite poor as a proper 9. He thrives running into space down the left wing and drifting into the center. Maybe in the future it could be something like

Bale taking Ronaldo's current spot to an extent, James playing as a classic 10, and a true destroyer DM.

What's the issue?

The question is more who plays Modric or Kros assuming only one does.

Madrid won't pay 90m and leave James on the bench.

Good to see Real paying this much for him. James is a good player, but his World Cup performances overrated him a bit.
