wow really. never thought any team would actually pay more than 20m for him. always thought he was abit overrated

If by overrated you mean overpriced, then yes. If not, what do you mean by overrated - how is he seen by fans and journalists and in what way does that differ from your opinion on him ?

Also, 40 mil was his fixed transfer money, it needed to be payed so Urrutia and the club can't prevent the move.

i don't know about the media's view of him because we don't get any coverage of him or ath bilbao players here. i meant he was overrated on this forum, from the few matches i watched for him he seemed like a good cb but nothing as special as he was made to out to be on this forum, maybe that's just because i have only watched 5-6 games for him.

He is still acclimatizing to the new league, new team, new language and all and improving with every game. You have to consider that he didn't even have any preseason, coming into a completely new environment straight after the Euros and Olympics in a last minute transfer. So he definitely hasn't hit top form to justify € 40 million yet but he still shows a lot of potential to reach that level soon enough. Bayern fans are definitely happy to have him.

His arrival has lit a fire under Gustavo's ass, too. So Heynckes is rotating them.

Bayern are definitely a team I'd LOVE to play against. Or Dortmund. They play proper football. Would be a superb game. Hope we don't get the usual boring draws like Arsenal again in the knockout rounds.

(Surprisingly) Luiz Gustavo had a great start to a season and claimed his spot ahead of Martinez. The Spaniard caught a break now as Gustavo got injured and will be out until the end of the year.
Another opportunity opened up now with Badstuber's injury (until the end of the season) so who knows.. we might even see Javi feature at the back.

15 - Javi Martinez has played the most games in Bundesliga history without suffering a defeat (15, all this season). Unbeaten.

Swag.

Just goes to show how useless stats are sometimes. Luis Gustavo shares minutes with him and had a better season. Not to mention other players.

Once Pep unleashes the beast in Martinez, Messi won't even know what has hit him in the next Ballon d'Or gala. Release the Busquets-Martinez double pivot for Spain!!! :tito:

I actually wish that we had him instead of Busquets in the side tonight. He did what Busquets hasn't been able to do this season and that is provide protection to the back 4. I remember one of his games at the Nou Camp last season when he made things difficult for Messi. I've never seen a single player keep Iniesta quiet as much as he did tonight. I always thought Bayern over-paid for him but he's one of the reasons why they've conceded so few goals in Bundesliga and if they can win the CL, I guess paying for him would be worth it.

He played very well husteld our midfield enough time, but bare in mind he had Schweini and even Muller and the wingers even helping him out, Busquets needed support but no one in Barca did

I agree with you but Javi I think is better defensively than Busquets. Busi is the type of player you need when you have control in the midfield, because he's one of the best passing DM's out there but when you're faced against a more quicker, athletic and physical team then you need somebody like Martinez because he's a more robust type of DM that can keep people in front of him.
