Jean-Clair Todibo

Barcelona have [I suspect] rather stubbornly decided that despite whatever potential and improvements The Tod makes, that he is and never will be the Barcelona profile of centreback. With this type of thinking Puyol would probably struggle to make the first team in this era.

The fact that we lack financial muscle and he is one of our stronger hands to sell with high upside, and this means we are probably offering around half of Europe.

Sadly Pique won't be told to leave anytime. Sadly not while he is bringing the club so much off the pitch benefit in sponsors, contacts, etc. To be honest sporting wise he is one of our lesser problems. His level is still good enough for starting all games. He just needs strong rotation relief and we lack another right footed CB. Age is less of a factor in CBs, he is still surprisingly one of our faster players too.

I don't think we will miss Todibo too much if he is sold to be honest. His style needs alot of development to be played in a back 2 (he is in a back 3 in Shalke and played his best game for us in a back 3). Yes I wish we kept him on a loan like Shalke or sold him with a buyback in a perfect world. Yes, Leipzig would buy him with a buyback option with that option was high enough. They are a business first, football club second and as long as he brought the right ROI then they would take him.

But as were so financially stretched I can understand selling him now.

But my issue is more to lose him and not reinvest with a strong young[ish] replacement that will push all our CB options. Rugani is a safe Barcelona 3rd/4th squad option but I would like someone more inspired with more physical attributes. France is full of these players.

It is the same case as with Emerson, Arthur, Semedo. They can fetch us some money? Fine, ok. But who can you get of similar age for the same or less money that can actually improve our squad? Because if you can name them, then why don't the club who wants Arthur/Semedo buy them instead aswell...

We actually have a quality cb and this idiotic fucking board want to sell because they can actually make some decent money. There's a reason other clubs want Todibo. It's because he can play.
Instead our board are happy to have grandpa Pique and weak ass Lenglet as CBS. Then you have a crock Umtiti and unknown Arajuo as back up.
Fuck Barto and Abidal.

Unfortunately, you are absolutely right.

A good team president and sporting director will find a way to move Pique to the MSL of USA, then sell Lenglet for whatever amount we can get and finally, loan Umtiti to a second-tier team till his contract ends. We have left what?... Araujo and Todibo? Buy Upamecano and Ruben Dias as a starter and give the other two a chance to play in not that much important games against lower teams so they can gain experience playing for Barcelona. That is my vision of rebuilding our defense.

I think it's going to come down to Todibo vs Araujo considering we don't have the money to get a proper replacement CB.

Rumors are the club is willing to bet on Araujo which surprises me considering Todibo is a better fit as he's much better with the ball.

I'm guessing it's because Todibo brings the most $ for the club.

The club must have more financial problems than the board lets on.
Todibo is largely an inconsequential part of the team in the short term and can get some money for the club in a sale.

Plus Tebas said a few days ago that swap deals would end up fixing the account books, but don't generate any real cash. All these rumors of swap deals likely means the Barca board is looking to make those deals to make the accounting look good.

There is no interest from any club in Araujo yet. But for Todibo, we have several offers already, which only shows that he is more advanced player.
If we manage to sell several of our players we can generate enough money to sign Upamecano @ 60 m. and another CB @ 40 m. In that case, we can pair Upamecano with either one ( Todibo or the other CB ). We are talking here for around 100 m. for two important players, but if the board decide to sign Martinez we'll end up paying about 130 mil. to get him here. ( 90 m. + Semedo ). That is very unlikely for me to happen, but with this board, you never know.

Of course they will sell the Todibo because Lenglet and Pique will be starting and Umtiti is their replacement. There you have 4th that is Araujo.
Thing is that they don't see him as 3rd choice so he will be sold because there is no point of keeping him as 4th CB.
I agree that he could be easy 3rd or second CB, but club obviously see some problem with him.

Selling Todibo and getting Upamecano , and nobody will remember Todibo. But again I don't see anyone coming this summer.
Nobody will want to buy Umtiti, he is not willing to go so you have him and Araujo as backup.

I see us getting RB, because Semedo will go, CM and ST (unfortunatly, but hope so there will not be money for Lautaro.)

My opinion is we are getting Ruiz/Pjanic and Cancelo.

That is true but would you still sell him even if it means we don't get a new CB?

I would understand selling him if we can get a good CB replacement in but right now it seems like we are trying to use him to raise funds to get the likes of Martinez or Pjanic and sacrificing an area that really needs proper reinforcements. I can't see how going into a season with Pique, Lenglet a crocked Umtiti, and Araujo who isn't even better than Todibo would be a great idea.

Schalke play Dortmund away in the Bundesliga tomorrow, so lets hope for a strong showing against one of the strongest frontlines in Europe.

Agree with everything you said. I think selling Todibo is a big mistake unless it's for a very good CB as you said. Ideally he would at least be our 3rd choice CB.

We just gotta hope that the board piss off for good in 2021 with their short term vision.

Every Barcelona fan will agree that Todibo is the better player and it is really beyond believe that they are considering selling him.

Yess , will watch the game against BVB , we will see how good are Todibo,Sancho and Haaland.

Todibo against Haaland. "The Battle of the Thrones - 2."
