Ah, ok. I kind of feel that going after another BVB player is not a viable option at this moment though!

No, most likely not. But theres not much out there of quality.
Dont know how dahoud will do in BVB but might have missed out ona great controller talent there.

I'd prefer we use Alena in matches where we need to control the tempo, so no need for any other CM, but I hate the way Barcelona gave him false hope.

How come he "agreed" with the 4-year contract when Barca rejected him in the first place? Isn't it supposed to be the other way around like Barca contacts Seri's agent and his club, offers a contract and Seri will decide whether he would accept Barca's offer?

This story overall is ridiculous it makes me question that there's more to this story and us just rejecting him at that last minute.

If its true, I would seriously question his mental strenght, and am relieved we didn't get him. The pressure of playing here is magnitude higher than this.

Fuck that shit, if I already packed my bags to go to barca and said goodbye to all the friends in the locker room, then I find out I go nowhere and gonna have to play for Nice for another season, I would also call the manager and would tell him I can't play this saturday, need to rethink life at that point.

He didn't packed his bags and said goodbye to everyone on a day his team played an important game against Napoli. If he did that it was a poor professionalism. He should've been concentrated on his current team until everything would be officially done.

Won't lose too much sleep over missing out on him but the way the board handled this is disgusting. Not to mention it was incompetent and reeked of poor planning.

I would have taken a chance on him.

But yes, the way the board handled this was disgraceful. Anyone would be depressed. He was clearly a Barca fan and wanted to come. Now that ship has sailed and he goes back to plying his trade in Ligue 1.

Again, we don't know if it was truly board's fault. If Nice has really started to demand 50M (after PSG's supposed interest to drive up his price like Seri's agent said) after everything was almost agreed upon for 40M and we decided not to be blackmailed for more money then I understand and support their decision. Seri seems like a good player but even in this market I don't know if he's worth more than 40M.

We just don't know all details and probably never will so for that fact I won't blame the board. Yes, publicly it looked bad what we did but are we the only team that decided to move on from the almost finished negotiations at the last moment? No. And we also don't know if it was really (almost) a done deal as media was reporting. From what I've read Seri's agent didn't confirmed or denied those reports, he was just saying that both teams were negotiating.

In my opinion hes even more than 40 mio worth compared that we bought Paulinho for 40 mio. Seri is younger, played last season in a better league and had a pretty good season

Before this crazy summer i would have said 25-30 mio would be okay for him

If he is worth more than he costs you would expect to see more teams interested in him, but there aren't. 40m is a small sum in this market and there are many clubs ready to pay such sum to get a Barca quality midfielder, but he isn't a Barca quality player.
He had a season like the one Mahrez had when Leicester won the league. He is nothing special and isn't anywhere near the quality player we are looking for to improve the midfield.
The board did enough mistakes in buying relatively cheap players in their attempt to improve the team and they are now struggling to sell them.
If you add what the club paid for Arda, Gomes and Paulinho, you can get a top quality player who can improve the team. But instead we have 3 useless players with high wages and low market value.
