why are valencia being that mean in this ? They allowed adil rami to go to milan for only 4.25 million (rami reduced his salary by 500,000 for the deal to go through), although the initial deal with milan was for more money. Rami is younger and probably even better than mathieu, so why would valencia be more stubborn for mathieu ? Is it just because it's barca ?

I'm not sure Barcelona should do this, why not buy another 30 year old for 10 million or so ?? The only thing promising about this is that mathieu seems to want this badly so its always positive to have someone fight for it, but still 20 million sounds like a big number. Even some famous 30 year olds wouldn't go for that sum so why would a less known player like mathieu go for it ?

Valencia is really stubborn. If we give 20m then I really hope we thrash them bad in the la liga for their stubborn attitude.

They're in a bad situation with the new investors and Mendes being allowed to dictate everything regarding personnel (new coach, new players, etc.) just to make his own profit. Key players are unsettled and want to leave or have already left (Bernat) so they'll do everything they can to keep key members of the squad. Mathieu was undoubtedly crucial for them and that's been acknowledged by everyone there.

How can ppl blame Valencia? We could have signed Mathieu last year for 8m but we chose to "sign" Puyol. Its a trap of our own making

3M is a lot. That guy is really desperate to come to barca. We need players like him i think. If only Benatia or Hummels does something like that everything will be set.

He is at the end of his (very average) career and he has the possibility to play for a big club, until the other day he not even dreamed about it, it is a gift fallen from heaven.

Why should players of a totally different caliber like (especially) Hummels other Benatia do somthing like that ?

My opinon about Hummels has definitely changed, and definitely after seeing him at this WC: i would splash a lot of money for Hummels, only 24 y.o.

What? We were heavily linked with him last year too.

Afaik Cesc (and Alexis too, I believe?) did that not too long ago?

Yeah, I hate to break it to you, buddy, but here's what you and many others seem to fail to grasp: Dortmund won't sell. End of story.

I really hope he won't travel to Peru. I can't see a better realistic signing, right now. Getting him and trying for one more cb would be the ideal.

Ok, he dreamt it twice, last year and this year. Are you happy now ? in any case a gift for an average player at the end of his career.

It is more logical that a player like Mathieu do that than players of other level. The majority does not do so. All rules have exceptions.

Hummels ? With the right bid, they won't refuse. But i do not think that Hummels want barca.

I'm not sure what you're trying to say with this statement. Do you mean you would have paid a lot for him only when he was 24? I think he'd still be a great buy for many of the clubs out there that are looking for defenders. He doesn't turn 26 for a few more months which leaves a lot of good years ahead of him.

Obviously he's not for sale at this point in time though, and seems very happy where he is.

¡Gr?*cies Xavi!
Wasn't he available for €10m last summer? Not only is he a year older now, we are freaking paying double the money for him. Oh well, better late than never I guess. I just hope that this won't be our only CB signing.
