He just got back from a long injury. and his role has already pretty much been defined as he's our 4th choice CB and possible 3rd choice LB. If Masche,Umtiti,Pique are all fit he will not make the bench and the same with Digne and Alba being fit.

Occasionally he could but as long as six are fit you won't see Mathieu make the bench much unless it's some extreme case of rotation or suspensions due to red/yellow cards.
