Joan Laporta

DonAK

President of FC Barcelona
Lack of transparency and the risk of being on the brink of destruction is the number #1 reason why I'm in favour of opening up for investment and getting people that will hold the club accountable on board in the future.

Is it a risk free strategy? Not at all as we've seen with some clubs, however I am not interested in seeing a Barca with the lack of transparency, proper financial controls be at the mercy of another President like Bartomeu in the future.

Brought the club back from the brink of financial ruin

Deduced out wage bill by 100's of millions.

Won our first league title in 4 years.

Brought in a new shirt sponsor & multiple others, (the guy before needed pique to make a call for him lol.)

Brought our reviews to at or above pre COVID levels.

Built a brand new stadium, the absolute key to our financial future, (would have been done years ago if he had stayed)

Rejuvenate the entire squad back to front.

All this with two hands tied behind his back.

Year we definitely can't point to any thing he's done well why the majority of fans and socios support him.

If the forum supported it, I would have put in on a PowerPoint maybe then some would appreciate it lol.

- Kept the club in financial uncertainty about the future, and deepened it

- Sold assets of the club for low income to create the fake image that we are competitive

- Sold assets drawing the club closer to losing our financial independence

- Did deals with Qatari companies and entities that are AGAINST everything this club represents

- Kept giving wages ABOVE the market to incoming players and renewals, even THO it was clear that it was a main reason for the financial failure under Barto

- Failed to install the right professionals with expertise in key positions, like SD, and introduce a proper organization structure

- Kept hiring his buddies, and political allegiances, in key positions, like Deco, instead of professionals with expertise

- Failed to keep the only expert he had during his tenure, Matteu Allemany

- Acted several times on his whims, like with Xavi, and not on sound and cold judgment

- Kept DECEIVING and LYING to the fanbase about our real financial situations, delivering constantly fake promises

- Failed to act professionally in several situations, but haphzardly with last moment actions and scramblings, transmitting the image of a clown-show to the outside

- TAINTED the image of the club TWICE with two COLOSSAL debacles:
1) Letting the greatest contemporary legend, Messi, hang dry, and forced him to leave
2) Failing to register a 60m signing with clauses for him to leave for free and his wages to get paid

The list is long and offences severe...
WE can't continue with a man who understands his job this way

The sad thing is there is no one capable of being president in all of that region. Is Laporta the only one capable of being president ffs? Is there such a lack of leaders in that region of Spain that a guy like Laporta is seen as a good leader? Smh

"However, when I came, I knew Barça's situation. I waited until the last moment and I don't regret anything.”

Raphinha already saying if a player wants to join, he will do it.
The damage to our reputation has happened through years, not because of Olmo.
Our financial situation was well known, and we still managed to keep our name among big boys.
Next summer this will be yesterday's news. Players will be happy joining exciting group of young players, getting a good paycheck, and will follow their agents.

It has happened through the years, sure

But the Olmo thing is next level: it sends the message to any potential Barca target that you can arrive at Barca and there is a possibility that you won't be able to play for 6 months

3) Keep your opinion about Font to yourself.
He got 30% when Laporta was the absolute favorite.
He can only go up from there (and Laporta down), after 4 years of terrible haphazard srambing management by the latter.
God forbid someone actually tries to fix the club’s truly abysmal finances. We were at 1:4 when he became president and now we have a new stadium, amazing generation of young players and are back to 1:1. Ofc he is not without flaws, but the positives outweigh the negatives so much. But you seem to have an agenda against him.

People think it’s so easy to manage a club this dead financially. Too bad pessimism and negativity around this club has been the morale moving the club for the last 13 years…

There are people more capable than Laporta in Catalonia. But to become president of FC Barcelona that's big politics. You need to win popular support, which I don't see frankly. As evident of today how divided the opposition against Laporta turned out to be.
But the Olmo thing is next level: it sends the message to any potential Barca target that you can arrive at Barca and there is a possibility that you won't be able to play for 6 months
As Khaled said, this episode will pass. We are in the clear to register players as of January 1. In future we're likely to be more transparent about our finances with agents and players, but I'm far from the thought this is the end for FC Barcelona on the transfer market.

The core of the problem was Barca Vision. The German investors, Libero Football Finance, failed to make the agreed payment of 40m. Laporta promised this summer they will resolve the issue. Well, didn't happen. Apparently we could not find another buyer for 10% of Barcelona's YouTube content for that price. The reason we registered Olmo and Pau temporarily. Therefore the last moment VIP boxes sale could be read as:

1) Laporta and his execs were careless and incompetent throughout

or

2) Laporta and his execs were reluctant to sell the boxes at that price, deemed more valuable. Reports are they wanted 200m for double the period (40 years).

What does it mean we're in the clear to sign players though more exactly, 1 to 1 rule is still a penalty, no?

Is Madrid in 1 to 1 rule? Is Atletico even?

1:1 rule means any amount the club earns from transfers, sponsors, sales, tickets etc. must at least equal the expenditure in salaries (players & staff), transfers, bonuses, agent fees.
