No, he's not that talented. His technique is just inconsistent. Plenty of bad touches. If he was technically brilliant he would be better than this.

He has instances every game he plays where he showcases exceptional technique. How does someone's technique turn on and off like that, does he have concentration issues?

Not an exceptional dribbler. Not an exceptional shooter. Not an exceptional passer. He's a bit of everything.


For these kinds of players to succeed at the highest level, you need immense Football IQ, maturity and mentality combined with consistency. Like Thomas Muller.


Joao lacks all of the above which is why he'll never be an elite player.


His level, long term will be Europa League club level or a starring role at a proper mid table club.

9 bad actions on one good one. Evaluating him really depends when you watch him.

Don't know what it is. Either pressure to perform harms him or he is way too careless. Might do him wrong but imho it is the latter which would be sad because you could see what a player he can be when he is motivated like against Atletico.

I know he plays for very little money (or at least was ready for it until LL intervened) but he is not really justifying to extend his stay. Another loan might be okay if terms are favorable.

With Roberto Martinez leading that team there's a higher chance they get KO-ed in the R16. Not to forget he'll have to play a washed up CR7 at top and probably sacrifice a forward or midfielder who could be useful.
