Anxiously waiting for the next match
I thought he was another world beater from Barca's academy? Can't even get into the Mexican team.

he just lacks a bit of cofidence, he always plays to simple and conservative, he needed to take some chances but he is very much a player in the mold of Xavi

Mexico should Drop Gio as well, do they think they are the 2nd coming are something.

Too much arrogance from his father, now wonder his career has gone to shit an if JDS follows thats what will happen to him as well.

A good performance at the WC is the last thing gio has to save his career, as Phil has wrecked it so far.

They need to clam down, JDS isn't good enough, just because pep likes a player that keeps it simple, doesn't mean every manager does.

PS, Rafa alcantara is in the Xavi mold, JDS is in the busquets mold.

Have you ever seen Rafa or JDS play?

Who will he switch to though? if hes not considered good enough for Mexico?

Brazil? (his dad?)
Spain? (Has he got a Spanish passport?)

brazil..maybe in the future.
spain..too many midfielders already.

but no matter what, they cant play for the same country ever again other than mexico.

mexico needs midfielders...

so either rafa plays as a dm (instead of a cb) or mexico looks ridiculously thin in that regard

Some on here were saying that he should have played some games for the first team last season, if he can't get into Mexico's team then surely he isn't good enough for Barca's.

Except you aren't limited to 23 players in a club squad and it doesn't only exist for a month long tournament. That and most media sources seem to agree that he did deserve a place on the squad, though not as a starter.

This is why he didn't make the squad

Dutch coach Bert van Marwijk

The first pass after we won the ball back shouldn’t be a safe pass wide to someone who then controls it and looks around a bit. Our first pass needs to be paced, on the right foot and allowing our playmaker – and that can be any of the four forwards – to turn immediately and connect with the center striker. That should be bam-bam-bam! That’s a weapon we need to use more often.””

Too many passes back to the defender and DM, while the other midfielders where looking to release the fullbacks or AM.

If he were playing at DM, then this would be Perfect, but not as a central midfielder.

Hence he is more like busquets, not a natural DM, but is good at closing down his man, and aggressive in the tackle. and always looks for the simple pass.

He is 20, just wait a bit, the coach must have seen something in him to fly to barca just to have a talk with pep about him, your time will come, don't allow your father to ruin your career, as you have no chance in hell to play for spain or brazil.

Indeed, Aguirre only took a few midfielders, inexplicably...I could see perhaps JDS being still a bit young but clearly not the untalented player blueduck would have you believe (Wummers never cease to amaze me how they hover in the Barca forum to knock the talent pool that doesn't exist at the clubs they 'support')

jamrock is feelin' me, I concur with his sentiments...I worry about Zizinho or GDS having an immature impact on Jona...Would be very disappointed to see him go down a similarly overinflated sense of self path that his older brother has.

JDS will be much better than Biscuit, IMHO (Especially with the lack of ludicrous antics and peekaboo)

why was bert van marwijk commenting on jds in the first place?
although i agree with what he said about jds.
but my guess is that he is still young..thats why he takes the safe route to build confidence
