That tackle he did near the end, to block the shot, was solid SOLID defending. And not just because it was an important game and all that. The way he stayed on his man and knew where the ball was, was nothing short of epic.

and that sprint in stoppage time.

Amazing.

Look at his face. Pure happiness :D

That kind of play, with him running, should also be more used. He has a nose for goals.

It's one of the most demoralizing goals to take from a defense, as well...A sprinting energizer bunny of a defender who runs the length of the pitch in the 90th minute to score...He's got gorgeous touch and phenomenal acceleration

He started behind Adriano for his goal. The weekend rest really did him well. At one point he ran with the ball and out paced Abate O.O

He's still a defensive liability most of the time. Milan in both legs were trying to constantly attack down Alba's flank. Alves gets much of the blame and Dani's crossing wasn't exactly on par but Alves is much better defensively and somebody who has done the job on big occasions as well. So many times Alba looks jittery and leaves his man with a lot of space. I would be much happier with a more tactically aware and defensively sound fullback like Abidal playing in the big games. Milan are a very young and inexperienced side upfront and were missing Pazzini otherwise this result could very well have been different. Playing both Alba and Alves against the likes of Madrid, Juventus, Bayern and Dortmund is going to be a big risk.

best LB in the world?
Without doubt, IMO.

Only one close is Alaba.

Totally disagree with the above post, did you watch the game tonight? Alba defensively was outstanding and is better defensively than Alves. His last ditch block on Robinho was fantastic and was similar to scoring a goal.
