Alba overrated?

I think it could very well happen. But Grimaldo is still in the same mold as Alba. Maybe Godswill-Grimaldo/Alba will make a better fullback pairing.

Watching his game against PSG, I don't think it'd be a bad idea to go in for Ricardo Rodriguez in 2016. Or you know, at least play Montoya/Mathieu at rb/lb in a pair with Alba or Alves respectively.

One subpar game and you want to ship him out? He's still our super bullet most of the time. Grimaldo is going to be ready soon as well.

He's not overrated. Alves-Alba clearly do not work in tough games though. So either, Montoya-Alba or Alves-Mathieu is the way it should go.

Heck no, I didn't mean ship him out. I mean bring in another leftback of a different mold (since Adriano, Alba, and Grimaldo are similar) to bring in some tactical diversity.

And we need the midfielders to not hug the touchline so much. It wouldn't be so bad if Rakitic didn't have to cover for Alves so much.

The problem is not Alba its Alves. His decline has led the team to be unbalanced in all three departments. Alves can't defend (never did much of it before either) and aimlessly bombs forward leaving a huge hole on the right which has to be covered (by Rakitic) effectively de-shaping our midfield plus he has no attacking contribution nowadays either (which was the only thing he had along with his amazing stamina which has also left him). Thus this leads to our current situation

Albas strengths are pace and attacking contribution. He's only a slightly above average defender who looks better because he's extremely fast. Up against Lucas he looked awful. Alba would probably make a phenomenal wingback but in the defensive sense, there are better fullbacks.

Alba at least has some defensive awareness about when not to bomb forward. Like people have said Alves is the problem not Alba IMO.

Don't even want to upload the gifs of the Pastore nutmeg and Lucas ruining him on half a dozen occasions because children might be reading this post. Alves has clearly declined and still doesn't get #REKT like that regularly in the CL. What's prime Alba's excuse?

Wtf with this forum...Just a bad game and Alba is the worst player in the world.
He has been great so far this season and he is arguably the best LB out there, most of our players were shit yesterday and that happened mostly because of Lucho tactics..

Alves attack from the start of the season, its the only think he does, with Raki covering his ass. We saw the result..Cross after cross.
Prime Alves was amazing offensively, but not anymore.

Prime Cafu can play on the other side of the pitch. Alba still gets #REKT by Lucas and makes bad decisions with ball at feet. I'm not even sure what connection people are asuming regarding Alves. If Alves was caught high up and a long ball was played into his space behind his back which resulted in the centerbacks getting dragged wide and Alba tucked inside where he gets owned I'd understand. But this ain't happening. Alba simply gets ruined 1 on 1 by Lucas and Pastore and he tries to dribble like Messi.

It's because Alves crosses, I guess. Although he got an assists. He made 9 crosses. 6 were bad, 3 were good.
