Also he seems to take the opposition full back away from Neymar quite well so he can drive further into the middle of the field.

Like linetty said though. There is only so much that he can do against a bus like Atleticos.

Well, to be fair to him, I don't think even Mourinho's Chelsea was ever as defensive as this Atleti team.

He linked up well with Neymar and that's what I expected of him, not much he could do against airbus. Not even Messi could have done anything, marked by at least two player for the whole game.

Not only yesterday.
For quite some time he isn't doing too much offensively.
And when he does something, it is usually a poor cross or "wtf move".

When Neymar and Iniesta are both on a field, then we usually have enough of "power" on the left side.
But when either Pedro enters for Neymar, or when Xavi/Rafinha or anyone is on the left side for Iniesta, suddenly we have huge problems on the left side.

When we have to defend, he is more or less usually ok.
But when we play against a parked bus, sometimes I feel as if we are playing with 10 players, because he isn't offering too much against parked buses.
Alves is at least linking up more with Messi, and he tries his stupid crosses.
Alba usually just sits back.

My point is, if we had a LB who contributes slightly more to attacks, we would have a little more options against parked buses.
On the right, we have Messi, Rakitic and Alves linking up very well.
On the left, it is mostly only Ney and Iniesta.

Alba contributes a lot in attack. I don't get where you're coming from. He alsways makes those runs in behind the defence and links up with Neymar as well as Alves with Messi

He's hot and cold but can you think of many better left backs right now? Azpi & Alaba arguably come to my mind.

Offensively, he's been supbar for a while. To his own standards. He used to do better than the headless chicken stunt.

I was more comparing him in my head with our formers fullbacks.
A much smarter guy, for example, Van Bronckhorst, look at an action from 1:06 in this video:

Alba will rarely "act" as a midfielder with smart shortpasses inside of a box against parked buses to offer an extra man in the attack.
I often hope that he will go more forward and do something like that, instead of just run and cross.

Alba used to cut in a hell of a lot more than he currently does. Dunno why he was lethal when he did that.
