Not the best defender, but we do need a left back. Thats a definite priority.

Of course we need a leftback and he's got the technique, the speed,... He also speaks the language (Spanish/Catalan), has the required football-education (at La Masia) and knows a lot of the Barcelona-players. I don't think that his pricetag is really an issue either so the only question is: 'Has he got the defensive qualities?'... Adriano is playing decent at left-back, so if Alba comes, he really has to be an improvement.

althought there is time for improvemenet he isnt really impressive he hasnt something special just a good left back but nothing more we need something more to abidals style that typically doesnt exist...

I agree Adriano has proven to be pretty good after Abi got sick
but I haven´t seen much of Alba yet so can´t really say how good he can be, there´s still plenty time of improvement
remember buying Alves with new starting era? I pretty much hope Alba will start this era greatly too

There is a great deal of difference between the two. Dani alves was being pursued by the top clubs at the time he joined Barca,the guy was totally electric when he played for Sevilla. There was absolutely no question that buying Alves was a terrific move. Alba doesn't belong in the same sentence. The guy is only a slight upgrade over Adriano.

I mentioned it next to a lot of other qualities, but it is a quality that you have to take into account if you're looking for a Barcelona-player, that's a well-known fact

Im all up for strengthening the LB and CB positions but really we need someone who can really defend, we saw this season that we are very poor at the back, specially that left side, this signing adds depth to our team but it doesn't fix that problem.

Alba isnt an Abidal replacement he is a completly different player, i cant tell if Alves and Alba playing together will be a good or a bad thing but for 12-15m this is a complete no brainer.
