His makeup speed bailed out the defense repeatedly, really reminds me of Alves when he first arrived and when he was still at Sevilla in terms of owning his side of the pitch

People were going bonkers with Bale's speed. In front of Alba, Bale will seem like a crawling baby. Whatever this guy lacks in defending, makes up it more with his pace.

define me defending.

I didn't mean to say that he is a bad defender. Its just that he spends more time in the opposition half than our half by significant margin. The standard wing backs usually stay more in the center line area and intercepts or tackles the opponent attackers. Alba is so fast that he can afford to be hanging around in opposition 3rd and still can come back to catch up with the opponent players to stop him creating a chance. :)

Same as Dani, left too much space for Shaktar wingers. His offensive contribution was great again though. Too bad Xavi was afraid to try some thorough passes as I saw Alba making some sprints that went to nothing.

Alves and Alba must learn to attack separately. It´s very dangerous in terms of defensive stability.

we didnt play against Shakhtar?

I think this was sort of the basis for Meta's concerns about adding Alba to the team last year

It adds a dimension to the attack though. I know it's risky but when the attack overloads on the left, Alves has all sorts of space to run into on the right. I'd hope within the next couple of years though that Montoya progresses even more as he seems to be (comparatively) more defensively reliable.

As long as Alves does his part of the job on the right (which he doesn't seem to be doing lately, to be honest), there's no problem in Alba playing the way he does.
