Preseason definitely was combination of bad decision making and pure greed. This one is directly on Barto: Lucho spoke against it, but no one paid attention. Plus Copa America- I bet our poor performance more has to do with this money making preseason than with every other reason combined together.Perfect example of board ruining teams performance.

Yes. Time we looked at pre season seriously. It's fine chasing money spinning friendlies but some times, a quiet build up and less travel could work wonders

Not sure whether to blame him for the pre-season or not.... It was something planned a year in advance and these days you got to have such tours to expand your global influence.
Treble + Copa America and pre-season too much, but I doubt he thought the team would win a treble in Lucho's first season.
European Tour next summer please.

Jeepers some people try to find something in nothing.
Virtually all the top clubs go on tours, some a lot further than the USA.
Of course they know it is not ideal preparation but their is a need to go if you want to try and raise the clubs profile over there.
Do people attack Messi for having charity games etc during pre season or other clubs that do the same thing?
Really pathetic issue to moan about.

They dont have to go on a tour every year. They didnt go the year before but to complain about it is pathetic as it is something the club needs to do to raise profile.
Ideally would never go on tour if it was down to pure football.

Well there you go. He obviously feels that this years tour had some impact on our early season form so I think it's fair to say it could well have been an issue

Tour is ok and understandable and true, every big club does those nowadays, in Asia, Australi or whenever. But. I remember that Hunter's piece in ESPN that claimed that the tour itself was badly planned- too many venues too far from each other, bad timing considering the the supercups etc. Yeah those things are planned way before you know that you are playing a supercups, but still...

Might indeed be the case mate. Willing to believe and be persuaded that a tour in itself might not be the issue in the cold light of day but they need to be considered and planned. Maybe what Fernandez is insinuating is that this summer, it could have been planned a lot better.
Sometimes people just need to complain. We've won the treble 4 months ago with a manager who many here wanted gone after few months in charge.
Barca are under transfer ban so Lucho can't use new players like other rival can.
On top of that we had a helluva schedule with tough opponents and having 3 super cup games.
As an icing on a cake, we had to deal with many injuries/mumps/suspensions: Bravo,Adriano,Douglas,Alba,Pique,Vermaelen, Rafinha,Iniesta, Neymar,Messi all missed/miss at some point.
And despite it all we're still level with our main opponents.

Do I need to complain? No. I'm ecstatic that we are level with Madrid and convinced that we will only get better but this is a discussion and I think the fact Fernandez stated they would look at future tours bears out this was a concern. Don't think we can be accused of being moaners for that!

The difference is some people trying to make out the club are 'greedy' and idiotic for going on the tour. That is the pathetic part.
Tours are needed. Not every season but they are needed.
