Josep Maria Bartomeu

First of all, bartos criticism is valid, objectively so. The rule is too harsh, regardless of who is lucky and who is getting screwed over. I don't want it to happen in our favor or against us during a clutch game, i don't want it to happen during any potentially interesting game i'm watching as a neutral.

Secondly, are you seriously criticising barto for making an honest and fair statement, which incidentally changes absolutely nothing about the fact that we took three points and six goals today? guys, this is PR 101, always be a class act in situations where you can easily afford it.

what kind of "non-cowardly" response is possible in such a situation? because the only one i can imagine is something along the lines of "yeah it was unfair, but you know what? we don't care because we're barca and we were screwed over a thousand times more in this franco-league were everyone is pro-madrid anyway and no, we don't care that this logic doesn't apply to our opponent, because fuck you athletic bilbao"

The issue is not with the comment itself. Its that he decides to open his mouth on this instance when it wasnt needed anyway instead of when that wee club in catalonia was exhibiting its loser standards

Exactly.

He's a cowardly person shying away when club needs defending and then pretending to be charitable when others are hard done. Probably to earn him favors or, again, out of fear not to make anyone angry.

Being cowardly is really not that unusual trait for persons who are never meant to be number 1. Barto became president by accident after his boss Rosell resigned.
Facing legal proceedings only made it worse for Bartomeu and intensified his fears.

What would you like Barca to have come out and said after the Espanyol games?

Lucho defused it and avoided any real comment on it also. Even Neymar denied he heard anything racist. Messi didnt mention the stamp.

There is a reason the board, manager and players reacted like that and didnt get into a war of words that people on here seem to want to happen.

Failing to file a complaint for stomping Messi is also avoiding "war of words"?

Can teams now file complaints against players?

I though the whole issue is that nothing can be done on video evidence even if they wanted to. Regardless of what excuse given.

If it was possible for them to file any complaint on that issue that would have led to anything then I agree they should have.

Everyone seen the incident for what it was and I would put money on it after the game Messi would want to forget about it and move on anyway. I doubt he felt in anyway let down.

What if the Penalty was missed?all Bilbao gets for violently denying the striker is a give us a tougher chance to score (considering Suarez already passed the GK)?
Suarez could have missed the opportunity too. no one can guarantee that he would have scored. Penalty should have been enough. Don't forget this is a GAME and big part of it incidental. The penalty pretty much restores your lost opportunity , but red card takes permanent impact on the game. For the same crime you cannot punished twice, get a penalty, a red card and even have subsequent suspension.. Don't care where Barto stands on the issue, but it seems harsh to me.

Exactly. In that case the only fair alternative would be to introduce penalty goals to football.

Every card given is a twice of a punishment with that logic since you get a foul and the card
Football is a non-violent game .Cards are their to prevent players from getting advantage of this violence otherwise we will see Espanyol and Mourinho type of strategy becoming the normal which would hurt the game

Your argument wasn't about the violence, it was about missed opportunities, please don't flip flop. My point was that Suarez missed the open goal many times before, so we have no evidence that keeper prevented 100% goal. Penalty is fair opportunity. When it comes to violence I agree with you there, but that episode wasn't the most violent incident there. 2 Games ago a keeper stomped on Messi and it went unpunished.

He is a coward as simple as that. He has failed to defend the club numerous times now. Speaks nonsense when he really shouldn't make a comment. On a side note red card and penalty is little harsh but it is what it is. It prevents teams from doing stupid shit in the box where physical damage to the players will be maximum if people started rashly tackling. It is easy to evade in the middle of the pitch but it is really hard in the box as you cant even dive to prevent yourself that much. Diving in the box will most likely result in an yellow. The rule should stay any change could be really bad.

That is a good idea but it has a flaw. You really don't know if the goal will actually go in that is another clear opportunity is given in terms of penalty. Not a definite goal.

I don't see them different argument .

And even if so my original post is that I said all what Bilbao get punished for is giving us a tougher opportunity since an empty goal is easier chance than Penalty . I didn't say it is an already scored goal .
For that I don't see Penalty enough punishment ,you simply reward players for violence .
Hey Suarez I am gonna tackle you and let you try your luck with a less likely goal and won't even get a card for it . that doesn't sound fair to me

In that case, the penalty kick should be done without a goalkeeper. Since Suarez still has the chance of missing the open net :troll:
