Gomes will be one of those watching paint dry player, never too bad but never great either.

Like always in Barca history the downfall will be brutal. We've had our moment of glory, time now to be patient and let the storm pass by. Barca will revive.

A better question is why bring Laporta to the discussion? Laporta running a piss poor campaign doesn't change that Josep is widely popular among club members and won with huge margin.
Laporta winning in 2003 was once in a lifetime election upset for this club. won't happen soon. If Barto moved out one of this administration will follow him with support from the media.
I honestly don't want him out,he is much better than Rosell and brought back stability and put trust in those who works under him.

There is a thin line between:
1. a young guy just needing time, and this is why he is crap/meh currently
2. and: a young is just a crap/meh and he will never reach Barca's level and this is why he is crap/meh currently

This is why you need to give some time to a new player to see whether he is just crap or he needs time to integrate into a team.
But also, on the other hand, you can't give an unlimited time to a new player. If a new guy plays meh for too much time that it is more likely that he is just not good enough for Barca than that he just needs time.
(Rakitic integrated after 3-4 Months, right? Suarez also)

Imo, 1 year is a fair amount of time to give to Denis and Gomes (and let's say Mats) to see how are they fitting.
But if they'll be as meh as they are today even in their 2nd season, then: so long boys and good luck in some other (probably weaker) club, and we'll try with someone new.
