Well we all know this board is many thing but professional isnt one of them, seriously 2016 cant come soon enough. So tired of Rosell's puppets pulling the string

Still, I think it's inappropriate. Teams shouldn't give a reason why they sell a player. If they want to be transparent towards the socis they could start with not lying about transfer fees.
They should say, great player this Cesc Fàbregas guy, thanks for your time, thanks for giving it your all, best of luck, and move on. This seems childish but then again it's Rosell's board so I'm not surprised.

Edit: after reading the comments in the Fàbregas thread I can say that I'm not on the same page as the others and more on yours. With disgraceful I meant it was a terrible statement but I don't think it's the end of the world as some others.

We've seen a pattern by the board that has failed to either respect the ethos of the club or it's players nevermind conduct itself with some dignity

I didn't like Cesc and I'm thrilled he's gone but there's no need for the club to put an exclamation point to it in an official statement like that...But as others have pointed out, they undoubtedly were looking to spin the story in their favor which, pathetically, underscores how incompetent they are...No wonder they went through numerous media relations personnel already, no clue what they are doing

First Cruyff, then Pep, Abidal, Thiago, Villa, Victor Valdes and now Fabregas.

The past, present and future of the club has been driven away by this board.

What on earth can these crooks not ruin? What used to be a proud, independent, progressive and glorious club is with each passing of the day being besmudged and tarnished. I swear if Laporta was a Barca God (not that he is one, just go with the analogy) then Rosell is Barca Satan with Barto as his Judas.

Its like they are going out of there way to take what was a golden formula from Laporta and completely turn it on its head into this shit storm we see now. Its just so sad and so frustrating to see everything that made me love this club being thrown out with the kitchen sink. For example, it gave me great pride to see our team play breathtaking football with UNICEF covering their chests, advertising altruism and humanitarianism while the rest of football went the commercial route. It was marks of distinction like that that have made this club great and why I cherished that era so much.

And to see us today not only ditch that but to try and miserably fail in some cheap imitation of our rivals in the capital is what infuriates me the most. After our triumph in Wembley, the sky was literally the limit with that team and with competent, not even good or great leadership, competent leadership this club could have retained a sort of dominance in football never before seen.

i_bleed_blaugrana, you have been 100 % on point with this post and your other posts on this matter.

It's ridiculously depressing to think just how successful this club would be with a competent management. It's like Rossell and Bartomeu decided to screw over the footballing model and focus solely on the finances. From the moment he was elected I knew he was a corporate rat.

I just really hope the Lucho era doesn't get any worse with this management. If it does, I fear for the absolute worst: I could see Messi leaving and us falling into an absolute terrible state, ala Gaspart Era.

Don't compare Fabregas' departure to Pep's. Selling him wasn't a mistake, the mistakes were: a) buying him in the first place when we didn't need a midfielder, b) Not selling him last year instead of Thiago, and c) the price we got for him. I agree with you about everything else though.

Disgraceful treatment by the club. The guy came back and did everything he could to prove himself, yet he's kicked out like a rat. I'm 100% sure it was not his idea to leave, not for a second. He was forced out.

I think that Cesc also wanted to leave.
He was whistled many times and particularly in the end of the season (I don't remember in which match) and after that Pique said that Cesc shouldn't take all the blame, it wasn't right to whistle him. From this moment, he knew that it was over.

Yesterday I was talking with my brother about it and the overall situation of the club, and we concluded that Fabregas understood that the club wasn't going to win anymore , and that he was a glory-hunter. I don't know if the word is right, but he came back when we were the best team in the world, and left when we're a bad situation ; and he also said in his statement : They match my footballing ambitions with their hunger and desire to win trophies.

It means that he can't find anymore "hunger" and "desire to win trophies" in our club.

I never liked Cesc, I also didn't appreciate his statement and the club he's going to play for (who's imo our second "enemy" in Europe after Real Madrid) and I don't wish him the best. We see the true "culé" in the good and in the worse. Cesc, we only saw you in the good moments and now that the boat sinks, you're the first "big name" to leave.

Concerning the statement of the club, they didn't lie but as always, they show that they have no class.

This is also very true.
