I think Chelsea replaced us. City and PSG too.
If anything, we are closer to being a stingy club now. Only a bit generous with salaries.

Chelsea under Roman were the best selling club. Always sold well.


City are excellently run and very smart.


PSG? Yeah.

Sure, but it has been 5 years like that. So, I doubt there is any remaining reputation of us being the club that overpays for players.

I doubt we would have paid much more for Alcarez than the astronomical fee paid by Atletico
