Karim Benzema

He didn't score in that AM CL SF in 16/17, but had it not been for this moment of genius, AM were on the verge of turning the tide.

Things like that aren't captured in goal totals.

He's a rival and I hate him for not declining, but he's undeniable quality.

Having followed Benzema's career path, he was one of the brightest young talents since his Lyon days.

Then in that big summer he moved to Real. He then got the reputation of a very well rounded CF but his patchy finishing was criticised for years and he wasn't considered in the top CFs in the world mostly.

People used to call him underrated. He was always terrific in his all round game. But got a lot of heat from fans for his goalscoring.

How he has turned his career around is inspirational and he's a brilliant goalscorer now.

But saying he has always been this player is simply fake and a blatant lie. Be real

These are obviously his best years, nobody said otherwise.

But saying he was a meme before now is also revisionism and really not true, he was still crucial for them before as well not only with his overall game but also goals at important times as well.

He still scored a lot of LaLiga goals and many important CL goals too.

He wasn't a meme player. He had great all round game since Lyon.

But he had some meme patches/phase where he was criticised left, right and centre for his unreliable goalscoring as a CF. Those were the questions raised.

For a while he got a bit of a "Lord Benzema" reputation. Real Madrid fans have had a roller coaster relationship with him through the years. Perez has always loved him.

But like I said he stuck around and the managers understood his overall value and contribution to the team. Fair play to the lad.

Basically, it's going to be a second & different Balon d'Or winner for Real after CR7 left! So much for all the talk that we had assembled the historically best team few years ago

Xavi, Iniesta and even Alves and later Neymar/Suarez would have won their B'durrs, if they weren't part of the historical team led by best player ever.

Difficult for anyone to win the golden ball when Messi & Ronaldo were at their peak, every who has won that aren't those two has down it when they are on the decline.

We could have wow, 1 more CL title maybe 2, but done margins in the CL, but we won like 8 league titles, most of those players have around 3/4, such was our dominance in a league they were in.

Plus bartomeu.

3 weeks is what I've seen but may be just to make it sound like he won't make it in time for Atleti

Honestly bit shit that club's plan is not take a Dzeko type player for something like this
