I do have to say that it's quite funny that Barca got rid of Munir for 1 Mil while loaning this guy for 2 Mil.

You made money on Munir. That's a success in itself.

What is this, 'name a striker' contest? Don't know what you expect here. 30+ year olds are a shit import policy in general. They don't like to move unless it's a step up in wages. None of the oldies mentioned here would want to take a paycut on their last ever big contract to be a reserve option for Suarez. Sturridge  Not sure if he even knows how to say "ouch my calf" in Catalan!

Who cares? Everyone and their mother sucked when at Las Palmas. It's what happens when you play for a bottom feeder club with no future. Dude was just chilling in the sun. Now his reaction is basically the same as yours - bewilderment that somebody could actually care about his talent. That makes players improve their work ethic and do better than anyone expects of them. He will be fine.

They're obviously pretty shit. If you want someone to just be the inexistent 11th man then might as well have them battle a bit. I.e. Paulinho or KPB.

Great success to have earned 10% when you were basically guaranteed to earn 10 times as much 5 months prior if you had used your common sense even for a second. I hope that you are not investing your money in such a manner if you are content with such "investments".

No, just a quick overview of players who would actually have made many times more sense and who likely could have contributed with something genuine and who could have likely done a much better job if thrown into the fire should the 32 year old Suárez, who has complained about his knee for 1.5+ years, run into an injury which appears to be a completely unthinkable thing according to many people on this forum today.

Even a one-legged Sturridge is twice the player that KPB is. As an attacker that is.

That is the only thing that we agree with and I was going to write how he must feel right now. Like winning the El Gordo lottery as I wrote earlier.

Not really shit. Just never received their chances. Ruiz has a very impressed record (national youth teams) and Mújica, while not doing anything overly special, is a genuine talent.

Point is, there is no point of going after those half-arsed solutions. It's moronic for the reasons that I mentioned.

Now I will just enjoy this comedy show and look forward to the press conference and wish KPB luck even though I am highly skeptical of this transfer/loan deal to put it mildly but of course I am going to wish him all the best of luck and I would love to be proven wrong. For instance I would be laughing my ass off should this KBP legend score a crucial goal in the CL or league although I can't see it for me. So it's not the end of the world but that was sure as hell not the name that I expected when I checked the frontpage of MD yesterday night and saw that today would be D-DAY for the new loan signing.

Fine with this transfer. What were people really expecting?? This is for 6 months and he definitely isn’t going to disrupt the locker room

Two of those were Robert Fernandez's swan song.

Robert's place is occupied by Abidal. Segura has remained in charge. If Arthur and Dembele have nothing to do with Pep, that's likely the case with Boateng and Vidal.

I'm not really going to complain much since this is a 6-month loan.

Although it seems like Valverde was begging for anyone at this point to be a backup number 9 so we got Boateng.

Well after Murillo we were expecting someone as similar. Good Liga (or top league performances last season) but fallen off the radar this year. This deal is a bit like getting 2018/2019 Alex Song for central defence.

Peak Madrid loaned Adebayor and Chicharito at different stages in time. Both were semi useful despite being bang average, while a guy like Huntelaar spent his 6 months sulking around despite being pretty talented fairly early in his career. These 6 month loans really are fine, it'd be a big problem if it was a regular biannual contract swoop as if you're Everton or some other mid-table retirement home for those who can't cut it on top level anymore. These players will always provide a bare minimum that is higher than anything a guy like Arnaiz or Ruiz would be able to do reliably when coming off the bench.

Even a one-legged Sturridge is twice the player that KPB is. As an attacker that is.

Lol stop it. Doesn't matter what he is anyway either, he literally wouldn't find his way to training ground as an Englishman who has never been abroad other than to Ibiza.

The fuck people are rationalizing this signing? I have been gone a day and the whole place has gone to shit.

Lord Bendtner would be better cos he's an actual striker and he's under house arrest.

Who do you want? Or maybe you disagree that we need a backup to Suarez at all? If yes, then fair enough.

Who cares if he signs for 6 months. You all need to take your prozac and stop having all these bipolar mood swings and overreactions

When Mourinho loaned Adebayor he was a 26 year old attacker with a great track record at fairly big clubs in Arsenal and Man City. A totally different situation than KBP. Not even comparable. Come on. Similar with Chicharito. Huntelaar was just a mismatch similar to his stint at AC Milan.

The point here is that "bare minimum" should not be accepted. Tactically speaking, especially with a coach like Valverde around, we needed or could very well have done with the type of striker that I mentioned earlier today and many times in the past week. Say a Llorente type of attacker that would add another dimension. Is KPB going to do that? Doubtful. Does he have experience at the highest level as an attacker or goalscorer as Adebayor and Chicharito had? Last time I checked it was that bang average Chicharito that helped you guys defeat Atlético in that quarterfinal. Can you for a second imagine KBP doing the same against an elite team in the CL? I certainly cannot. However I easily could imagine some of the names that I mentioned as options do just that.

Let us not make English footballers dumber than they are. I am sure that Vidal would adopt him and take him under his big wings. Forget Sturrridge, it was just an name out of many, but now that you have written about him, I genuinely think, not only that, I am convinced, that a fit Sturridge is the better attacker (much better) than KBP. BTW, take a look at KBP's track record (disciplinary) and his history of leaving clubs. If Sturridge is supposedly thick, KBP is not much better. Him speaking Italian is not an mitigating factor.

Anyway judging from the reaction of certain users here, it seems that such bewildering transfers are accepted and maybe I should likewise accept that the board is what it is and that things are not done as they used to be done. Alas mediocrity breads mediocrity and parts of our fanbase is a reflection of that mediocrity.
