- 2nd most goals in UCL since the start of 2017
- Helped Monaco reach the Semi's of the UCL
- Helped Monaco win Ligue 1 against PSG against all odds, ending their streak of 4 straight.
- Helped Monaco break Ligue 1 goal record
- A combined 16 goals/assist since joining PSG
- Youngest player to 10 goals in UCL history
- Most goals for a teenager in UCL history
This I would agree with, sadly over the years, Ballon d'Or has become more about the popularity and the marketability of players, rather than an overall performance based meritocracy. This guy just finished 7th in Ballon D'or voting he's not even one of the Top 10 Ligue 1 scorers this year.
5 goals in 12 apps for the "7th best player in the world."
Don't get me wrong he's still very young and a great player for his age, but his placing was unjustified.

Your problem is, yet again, that you understand nothing of the topic you're speaking on. The Ballon D'or doesn't measure individual seasons, but a players performance through an entire calendar year. And from January to December Mbappe was one of the strongest, most accomplished attacking players in the world. In the 12 months since he's become a holder he's recorded 32 goals and 15 assist while winning Ligue 1 and reaching the Semi's of the UCL. Good luck finding more than a handful of attacking players who've been as good or better over the last 12 months.
Good stats, but not good enough for 7th.
Try again.
Yes, winning Ligue 1 and reaching the Semi’s of the UCL with Monaco = good stats.
His year was good enough for 7th according to people that actually understand the sport as well as many of your fellow Barca supporters here(Oragami). Meanwhile, you’ve provided no legitimate reason as to why his positioning isn’t deserved.
Yes, the same people that "understand the sport" better than I do thought Buffon was the 4th best player in 2017. How knowledgeable.
The Ballon D'or is an individual award and Mbappe was not better than the likes of Cavani, Lewandowski and Kane.
What’s your argument against Buffon being 4th?
Mbappe was better domestically than Cavani & Kane(he literally upset Cavani’s PSG for a league title while going further than Cavani’s ever been in the UCL), and he was better in the UCL then then all.
