Kylian Mbappé

Mbappe has not been top level post World Cup. It’s been basically two years where his reputation precedes him and the current player is much different.

He actually looks shot of all confidence, gets caught offside really easily and just goes through the motions in games. Currently no defenders fear him whatsoever.

Madrid are nowhere close to optimised for Mbappe is the added problem even considering he's adding to it
Well they're not really optimised for Vinicius or Bellingham either in that sense, but right now it's clear that the output of Mbappe is what they're trying to maximise compared to anyone else on the team.

When Vinicius fit it's clear they're set up best to get most out of him, not Mbappe. And in a 4-3-3 when Rodry performing well enough to not sacrifice a forward for a midfielder, team is not set up for Bellingham
So yeah, Vini still by some margin the core of the offense with rest forced to adjust in some form or fashion

Which is amusing as been saying all along - Mbappe will go through this period of being asked to play RF/CF and will be asked to adjust. So far not working well. Remains to be seen how it'll progress

Everybody scared of Mbappe because they think with a FIFA mindset.

Mbappe/Vini/Rodrygo aren't going to press at all. Look at Messi/Neymar/Mbappe PSG they weren't that great.

Take into account Modric is leaving. This has the booking of Zidane era Galacticos failure all over it.

La Masia is producing the next golden generation before our eyes. Let them buy and let Barca produce.
I called this in Feb 2024 I guess you can say I know ball.

The only player that doesn't adjust is Vini, the team is built for him and rightfully so TBH.

Been telling everyone he's better than Mbappe, but fans kept talking about world cup.

If you have a Vini Jr, who can only play on the LW, as good as he is, he isn't very adaptable.

Why the fuck would you buy Mbappe, who can only do the exact same thing lol.

Perez just couldn't resist his inner galactico, and with only STATE sponsored clubs able to afford him, his choices were few, plus he's a Madrid fan so it makes sense why he's there.

In a sensible world he's be at Liverpool and salah would leave next season, he's a clear number 1, you can never have two of those kind of players in the same team, which is why with yamal, I wouldn't want him at Barcelona.

Unless he figures out how to be a striker, a hard decision will need to be made in 2 seasons.

Yamal and Mbappe can coexist. Yamal tracks back, presses and works hard. He isn't lazy like Mbappe or Vinicius.

I agree that every team can only accomodate one lazy star player who doesn't press properly. Only as long as those players produce a ridiculously good output.

Salah presses and isn't lazy at all but I'd take Mbappe at Liverpool as his replacement.

Yea but Mbappe would come in expecting him to do Raphinha levels of off the ball work and that would never happen, because 1) yamal doesn't have that kind of engine and 2) he's a better all round talent.

He would fit Liverpool like a glove, but players don't often make the logical choice.

You don't need to press as well as Raphinha lol. He's a freak in terms of pressing. Yamal's workrate is more than enough. Players like Kante and Raphinha are anomalies in terms of engine and pressing ability.

Mbappe would destroy Barca's balance only because Barca already accomodate a lazy, half hearted presser in RL9. If you swapped Mbappe and RL9, then the pressing won't be an issue. Raphinha and the others would still be there. Hypothetically, if Barca had a pressing striker, Mbappe would easily slot in at LW.

Mbappe would fit Liverpool very well. That's true. Imagine those VVD long balls over the top for Mbappe to chase. The rest of the team would do all the hardwork for Kylian.

Swapping Mbappe and RL9 could possibly be tactically favourable for both Barca and Real. Barca fans want a fast forward and Madrid need a proper targetman Striker. Both teams could improve tbh. Both players would be treated better by their club's fanbases.

Don't need Mbappe anymore at Barca. The front 3 of Raphinha, Lewy and Yamal has great balance.

The time for Mbappe to have come to Barca was in summer 2017 when Neymar went to PSG.
