Sorry, as much as I love Messi and hope he wins the Copa America with Argentina, winning the league and to a lesser degree the CdR for us are much more important.

We must not release the players if the strike prolongs.

El futbol español: jugado por genios, gestionado por idiotas.

"Spanish football: played by geniuses, managed by idiots."

So true.

RFEF, represented by Villar who has been the president for 26 years, are bitching because they will only receive 4.55% of the revenue from the proposed new TV rights deal. So now it's a thug of war between RFEF and the government represented by Wert.

They (RFEF) are also complaining that the allocation of TV broadcast rights of matches would distribute the revenue unfairly. Especially when it comes to the Segunda División.

LFP (lead by Tebas) have their differences with RFEF too and the AFE have their own agenda too and were annoyed that they were hardly consulted before the new TV deal was signed into law on April 30 by the government. The strike was apparently initiated by the AFE due to them receiving a too little share of the revenues under the new broadcasting rights act. RFEF is supporting them.

So it is RFEF + AFE vs LFP and the government in short.

It's explained in more detail here below. It's a quite long article so I don't bother translating it word for word.

The bottom line is that the strike is a loud statement if anything in my eyes rather than something that they are truly interested in actually pulling off. A deal will surely be reached otherwise FIFA might be involved which nobody is interested in. Especially not given the potential transfer bans for a wide range of Spanish football clubs.

Politics in Spain are such a joke.

My country is corrupt like no other, but at least they don't pretend not to be

Corruption is there but with all due respect then you can't compare Spain with Morocco on this front and most others. No offense meant.

Oh you can offend no problem, the corruption here is blatant, they're not even trying to hide it, and I hate my country for so many reasons, so no offense taken, at all :)

I was speaking more in comparison to other Euro countries (France or Germany), Spain is closer to us in the shadiness than it is close to france.

Countries like Spain, Portugal and Italy and Grecee (those two especially) are for sure more corrupt than the Northern European countries, the UK etc. but Spain is comparable to France on this front IMO.

In the case of Spain it is getting better and it really depends on the region. Franco's legacy has a lot to blame for that and the old generation (mostly the ones in power now) who are the children of that period or the sons and daughters of parents who grew up and lived in that period.

Still a country like Morocco is way worse than all of those above and not even a democracy to begin with.

Spain and Morocco definitely have some similarities but I don't think that the level of corruption is one of them vecino.;)

I don't care enough about the high level politics (if you can ever know everything about that anyway) to be able to compare that, it's just my experience in real life, for example, I've been able to bribe cops for driving while getting out of a club a bit drunk or carrying small quantities of we*d in Morocco, Spain, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Colombia ... this will never ever be possible in France or Germany.

But my initial remark was in no way an attack on Spain or trying to compare it to Morocco, which I repeat, is amongst the worst when it comes to corruption, up there with Argentina and Mexico.

Come on the mighty Eibar!!

Lost 0-2 to Espanyol. But with Deportivo to play away to Bilbao I can't see them picking up a win. A draw would put Eibar into the releagation zone on head to head though.

Granada should beat Córdoba but won't overtake Eibar due to Eibars superior head to head.

It's just all so close down at the bottom.

Valencia will be very difficult, even at home. They have given us plenty of trouble the last seasons, but im positive. Well, not so much, Carlo said that Ramos isnt done in midfield just yet...

If we win and Barca win, its 90% in barcas hands anyways, seeing as they will most likely stop the league after just 36 rounds.
