He did. He passed both Pepe and Ramos and almost chiped Diego Lopez. He was also fouled in the box in the first half and he hit the post with that header in the second half. One of Atletico's best on the night IMO.

He was fouled and deserved a penalty but the RM gets too many favours. But being atletico's best player he very well underperformed. He was running 1 on 1 with maybe pepe on his side and takes such a terrible shoot.Missed a clear chance and the chance where he couldnt even hit the ball was enough to brand him bad for today.Seriously, how hard is it to take that.It was a game to forget for him.He wasnt happy with himself at all.You could see banging his hands on the ground every now and then.He was physically fouled everywhere and needs to forget this game.

but messi pretty much plays that way nowadays e.g vs valencia, sociedad
absent for most of the match, scores a goal to equalize, then goes invisible

Like I said in the Ronaldo thread, Messi is a lot more involved, passing and creating chances for his teammates. Ronaldo has been like this for a long time, whereas Messi was what, several games only? A few bad performances/games shouldn't change the narrative and vice versa.

Where are the posts that said that eal would trash atletico? lol

I could quote them but i rather watch a movie.

You mean Man City would thrash Barca??! Oh well, there are always certain posters with their usual nonsense better to be ignored.

This is not 2011 anymore. Messi used to own Ronaldo. Now, they're pretty much even. One plays better than the other in particular moments of the season.

Right now I agree, but Leo's involvement with the sport itself has been so little since he has been off and on the game due to his injuries, but I'm not gonna use the injury card as an excuse, his pitch involvement has been poor.

Totally agree with what you said, Leo can only dictate this argument.

LOL. Real Madrid are so poor in midfield and defence. Any team with an aggressive midfield can beat them.

Isn't that the case with most teams in most games though? If you're aggressive and organised you can beat almost anyone, espesh in European cups.

Plus was Madrid bad against Atletico in the cup? I don't think so. Struggle came from rotation resulting in two players being switched out of lineup and no offensive fullback providing stretched space on the side. Dropping Jese didn't help either, but he seems to be quite goal reliant when it comes to his form.

hey wolfe, how did your feel that real was getting dominated for stretches during this match and couldn't keep up for most of it?

Think he felt blessed that we didn't drop all 3 points after the CL midweek game despite our closest rivals played a much weaker opposition after their CL game and dropped all 3 points
moreover that ended our toughest away trip .. :)

Good to see u too man
Carlo made mistakes , starting with selecting the off form Diego instead of Iker who is ATM Kryptonite as well as the full backs and Jese (who play with heart in the derby) but you learn from mistakes and overall still top of the table with the toughest away game in the 2nd half of the season is gone so we'd take it
